as follows:
THAT WHEREAS, the Council aid, on the 14th d&f of October, 1929, pau• ita resolution or intention No.
815, reference to which resolution, now on file in the
office or th~ CitJ Clerk, is herebJ m~de tor further
part1oulara, to ord0r the hereinafter described work and
improvement to be maae 1n said city, which Resolution of
lntent1on was auly and re~l~rly published at the time
and 1n the manner snd form as re~uired by the lmprovement
Act ot 1911, aa appears !rom the affidav1.t ot MABEL L.
WOODS, principal clerk of the printer and publisher ot
the DAILY PAto ALTO TIMES, now on t1le in the office
or the Clerk or the said city; and
WHEREAS, notices of the passage of Reaolut1on
of Intention No. 815, headed "NOTICE OF IMPROVEVENT"
were d:uly and re~gularly posted. along the line of said.
oontemplated work and improvement, at the time, in the
manner and torm and in the numbara reqp1red, after the
naesage of said Resolution of Intention aa appears from
the affidavits ot Arthur a. James and G. ~attuok, who
personally posted the same, and who, upon completion
ot the posting ot said notices forthwith tiled aaid
affidavit in the office or the City Clerk, making oath
that they completed. the posting or said not1cea on the
29th da7 of Qo~qbe~,l929, and
WHEREAS, there were no protests or objections
preaentoQ to be diepoaed of, at the t1~e and in the
manner and form as requirod by law;
NOW THEREFORE, this Council finds that the
for~go1ng recital of !aets 1a true and that it has
jur1s<11ct1on to order the work done, and the Council
or the City or Palo Alto DO RESOLVE as !ollowa:
That the public 1n1:orest and necessity require
the work hereinafter described, and the Council hereby
orders the following work to be done and improvements

not1co of aaid work, together with the plana and
apeo1f1cat1ons therefor, oonep1cuoualy, fo~ fiv~ {5)
daya, on otnear the Council Chamber door of tb.e C1 ty,
1nv1t1ns sealed propoaals or bids for doing the work
ordered. Said Clerk ia also d1ncted to publ1»h, twice,
a notice 1nY1t1ng much propo•ala or bids, and reterr1ng
to the ··spea1t1cat1ona posted or on file, in THE DAILY
PAL·' AJ.lro T.U.':ESt a daily newspJlper published and. circulated
in said city and hereby designated for that purpoae.
All sealed proposals or bida aball be accompanied
by a check, payable to the City of Palo Alto, certified
by a reeponaible bank tor an amount which shall no~ be
lesm than ten per cent ot the aggregate of the propoaal,
or by a bond for the aa1d amount, and ao payable, aigned
~y thti b1ddtJrs and two auretiea, who shall justify before
any officer competent to ndm!nister an oBth, in double said
amount, over and above all statutory exempt1one.
Said sealaa propo•als or bids shall be delivered
to the Clerk of the council of tne said City, on or before
8 o'clock p. M. on the 25th day of November, 1929, said
time be1pg not lesa than ten days from the timo of the
first posting and pablioation of not1oe of aa1d work, and

was duly and regularly adopted by the Counc1.1 of the City
