RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PAID ALTO Rl•
JECT!NG ALI .. BIDS ;FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OI<' UNIVERSITY AVE.
BET.WEEN AIJI.A STREET AND EL CAMINO REAL, JliD PROVIDING
FOR SAID WORK 110. BE WNE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PU'BLIC WORKS.
The council or the C1ty of Palo Alto DO RESOLVE
•• follows:
WHEREAS The Council did on the 8th uay or July,
1929, pasa its Resolution of Intention No. 769 to im-
prove Univera1tr Avenue between Alms str~et and El Camino
:RfUll, :reference to which Resolution is hereby made tor rurtba~ particulars; and
WHEREAS, Thereafterwarda on the 24th day of July,
1929, sa1C: council passed ita Reaolution ordering said
work and directing that bids should bo received therefor
on the 26th dny or August, 1929; 6l'J.d
WHEP~AS~ on said 26th day ot August, 1929, sealed
proposals or bids w~re received for eaid work and pub-
licly opened and declared by ssid Council. and referred
to the City Engineer for tatule.t1on and report thereon;

WHEREAS, the tJaid Council has reoei ved sa:td report
trom the Cit.r El'lg1neer~ which ahows that said bids are excessive; and
WHEREAS, a.n est1ms.te or th(, cost of said work by
the City Engineor shows that said work can be done for a lese coat than th~t of the lowest bid.
NOW 'lliEF{EFORE, !.t is HEREBY ORDSRED by the Counc:tl
that nny and all of said bids be and the same are herebj
re,jacted.
This City Council finds that the estimate of the
cost of said work by the 01 ty Engineel' shows that said.
work can be done by the Department or Public works at a
less cost than th~ lowest bid received tor said work.
THEREFORE, IT IS H:EP..EBY ORDERED that said work
under Resolution of Intel'ltion No. '769 be and the same 1• hereby awarded to the Depa.rtm~nt of Public Worka and the
said Department shall be deemed the contractor, with the
right to enforce sll liens and with the same powers, rignts,
duties, and obligations as are made and provided by the laws
of the st&te for contractors who have entered into contract21
to do such work as th~) lowest responsible bidder.
The sbove and foregoing Roaolut.ion was duly passed
at a reg·.:~.lar meeting of the Council of the city of Palo
Alto, held on th~ lOth day of September, 1929, by the follow-
ing vote:
