The Council of the City o.f Palo Alto DO
RESOLVE e.s follow a:
THAT ~lmREAS. the Council did, on the 8th
d~y of July, 1929, pass its Resolution of Intention
No. 769, to order the hereinafter described work and
improvement to be made in said City,which Resolution
of Int•nt1on waa duly and regularly published at the
time and in the maruler and form aa required by the
Improv&mant Act of 1911, as appears from the Affidavit
of Veronic& Olofson, Principal Clerk of the printer
and publisher of tile Daily Palo Alto Times, now on file
in the office of the Clerk of the said City; atld,
WHEREAS, notice of the passage of Resolution
of Intention No. 769, headed "hot tee of Improvement"
was duly and regularl, posted alon~ th~ line of said
contemplated work and 1mprovt:mc.nt, at the time, in
the manner and rorm and 1n the nambers required, art~r
the passage of sl.l.id Resolution of Intention, o.s appears
from the Aff1dav1 t of C. L. Blac l<er, who personally
posted the samtJ, and who, upon completion of the posting
of said noticus, forthwi tn filljLi Sllid Affidavit in th~
office of the City Clerk, making oath that he completed
the po1t1ng of aa1d notices on the 11th day of July,
1929, and,
WHERRA.S, thera were no protests or objections
pr~santed to be disposed of, at the time and in the
manner and for:n a3 required by law, s8.ve and except th~ protests of the Southern PacU'ic Company snd the
$outhern Pacific Railroad Company which have been over-
ruled by Resolution No. 782 of this COI.lncil.

jurisdiction to ordor the work done, and the Council
of the C:t ty of Palo Alto DO RESOLVE as follows:
That the public interest and necessity require

The City Clerk is hereby inatruct~d to post
a notice of said work, together with th~ plans and
.apeclf1ca.tions theru!or, conspicuously, for five days,
on or near the cou~.tc11 char:l1)ell doo1~ of the C1 ty, 1nv1 ting
sealed proposals or bids for doing the work ordered.
Said cler·k is al9o directed to publish., twice, a not:tce
1nvU1ng such proposals or-bids, and referring to the
specifications posted or on file, in tht; Daily Palo Alto
Times, a daily newspaper published and circulated in
aaid city and hur~by designated for that purpose.
All sealed propos&l5 or bids shall be accompanied
by a check, payable to the City of Palo Alto, certified
'by a responsibll;j banl¢'o1• an amount which shell not be
less than ten per cent of t·:l.e 1.1.ggrogate of the proposal,
or by a bond for the said amount, and so payable, signed
by the bidders and two sureties, who shall justify before
any officer competent to administer an oath, in double
said amount, over and sbove Qll sta.t\ltory exemptions.
Said sealed proposala or bids shall be delivered
to the Clerk of the council of th~ .said City, on or
before 8 o'clock p. m. on the 26th day or August, 1929,
said time beinp; not less than ten days from the time of
the fi.rst posting and publication of notice of said work,
and inviting seal~d propoaals, on which day and hour all
proposals or bids shall be publicly opened by said Council.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution
was duly and regularly adopted by the council of the City
ot Palo Alto~ at a !T.eeting held on July 24, 1929, by the
