shall be held on the second Monday of }l!ay of e(~ch odd
nu:nbered year, at wh1 ch councilmen shall be elt3ctod to
s;.lcc,ed the membors whose terms expire t">n tho f1rBt day
of J·J..ly nex.t following; o.:nd,

bonded indebtedness of tht;} City of Palo Alto in the sum.
of sixty thousand dollars (~60,000.00) for the
construction of a subway at the crossing of Embarcadero
Road over the right-of-way of the Southern Puc1f1c
Company, in accord~IJ:ce w1 th the decision of tte RA1J..rond
Cor~'111ss1on of this State; and,
WHEREAS, undvr a put1 tion for the Annexation
of uninhabited territory, approved by the Board of
3uperv1sors of the county of so.nta Clara, certnln
~n1nhab1tad territory is proposed to be annexed to tho
City of Palo Alto, for which an election must be held
in accordance with the :'}revisions of the Act prov1d~.r'.g
for the. annexation of un1nha.b1 ted terri tory; and,
·;;HEREAS, it a.ppeara to this Council that 1t is
expedient to have the election for said spec1~1 purposes
at the aame time as the genoral m~nicipal election: .
NOW, TH!~REFORE, .Lt is Hereby ORDERED~ That
the general mtm1cipal election for councilmen shall be
h(~ld upon ~ondayt May 13th, 1929, and that at the aame
time, in the same prec 1ncts, and at the polling pl.11ces
therein conducted, by the sa~e ~~ic1pal officers that
conduct the general m·.m1c1pal election, there will be
held an election for the following propositions:
(4t) To incur a bonded indebtedness 1n the
sum of sixty thousand ($60,000.00) dollar9 for the
scqu1s1t1on a.r'l.d constructj.on of A. subwa.:,r at th.e crose1ng
of the Embarcadero Road over the tracks of the Southern
Pac1fic Company:
(b) The annexation of that certain uninhabited
terri tory known as the Embarcadero Oaks Trnct to tll.e City
of Palo Alto:
AND IT IS FU'RTHEH ORDElillD: That for the
purposes of the general election, and for the two sald
special propositions, the eh~etion preclncts of the
C!ty of Palo Alto, as established and designated by the

eonaol1dat0d into and designated 8S Municipal Election
Precinct No .. 1:
Pr6cincta 3, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 shall
be consolidated into and d~signated ~s ~cipal
Election Precinct No. 2:
Precincts 16, 1'7, 18, J.9 and the Soutt1 Oregon

5hall be consolidated into and designated as Municipal
Election rreolnct No. 3:
Pr~cincts 20, 21 and 22 shall be consol1doted

And the City Attornoy is hereby directed to drav: the
necessary ~t~ld :requisite proclamation ordinance for such
gener-.1 eleetion nnd for t.tJ.e t'IIIO spa.ciaJ. propos1 t1ons above
enumerated, for such eeneral election, and for tbe two
special proposl t1ons above enumorated for considEu·ation
and pag~ago by this Council.
Tho abovt1 s.n<J. foregoing roaolution was duly passed
'by the C<"•J.ncil of the C.l. ty of Po.lo Alto at a regular
meeting held on the 8th day of April, 1~29, by the
