RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
DECLARING THE INTENTION TO ABANDON LUCAS LANE
ORIGINAL
The Co uncil of th e City of Palo Alt o RESOLVES as follows:
SECTION 1. It is the intenti on of the Council to aba ndon
the street k now n as L ucas La ne described as sh own on EXHIBIT A
affixe d hereto and made a part h ereof.
Said parcel is f urther described on the m ap on file with
the or iginal copy of this resolution in the Office of the City
Clerk, re ference to which is made for particulars as to the
pro posed v acation .
SECTION 2. The City Council he reby dete rmined that the public
co nvenience and necessity requ ires that there be expressly rese rved
and ex ce pted from por tions of the street to be vacated pu rsuant
to these pro ceedin ;s, unto the City of Palo Alto, its successors
and assigns, aneasement for pu blic utilities, sa nita ry sewer
and sto rm drainage purposes gener ally an d without limiti ng the
foregoing permanent easements and rights -of -way for all the
structures and activ ities described in Streets and Highways Code
Sectio n 8330, and as a part of sa id reservation City reserves to
THE PACIFIC TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAPH COMPANY, a corporatio n, an
easemen t, to be used along with that reser ved to City, to co ns-
truct and in stall commu nication facilities o ver, acro ss, upo n
and under portions of said street to be v acated, together with
a right of wa y therefo r, the r ight of ingress and egress to and
fro m sa id facilities, and the right to ma inta in said easeme nt
clear of struc tures and tr ees and other growths w hich im pa ir or
interfere with the use of said easement. Said easemen ts and
rights of way reserv ed to City and Pacific Telepho ne and Tele-
graph Co mpany shall be in the entire por tion of Luca s Lane as
descr ibed in said EXHIBIT A.

SECTION 3. All costs of this vac atio n proceeding shall be
paid by Palo Alto Townand Count ry Village, Inc . (Job Orde r N o.
6109) .
SECTION 4. T uesday, the 13th day of No vember, 1962, at 7:30 p .m.
Council Chambers, City Hall, Palo Alto, California, is se', as
the time and place of hearing where and when any person having
an interest in such proceedings may appear and p resent evidence
either for or agai nst such vacation .
SECTION 5. The Superintendent of St reets is directed to post
notices of str eet v acation conspicuously al ong the line of the
street or ro ad to be v acated as described in Section 1 hereof at
least 10 days before the hearing, posting no m ore th an 300 feet
apart and a minimum of three. Such notices shall recite the
passage of this resolution and set out the time and plac e of
hearing.
SECTION 6. The Clerk is directed to publish a copy of this
resolution in the Palo Alto Times twice prior to the date of the
hearing.
SECTION 7. These procee dings are taken under Division 9,
Part 3, Chapters 2 and 3 (Sections 8320 and fo llo wing) of the
Streets and Highwa ys Code.
SECTION 8. Reso lution 3525 passed June 25, 1962 and
Resolu tio n 3556 pa ssed September 11, 1962 are

BEGINNING at the most S outherly c orner of Lot 38, Greer Homestead
Tract, a map of which w as recorded May 6, 1907 in B ook "L" of Maps
at page 79, Rec ords of Santa Cla ra Co unty Calif ornia; thence
along the Southeasterly line of said lot 38 N. 70°47' E. 58.12 f eet
to the Southwesterly line of Lot 39 of said Tract; thence S. 51°
45' E. along said Southweste rly line 137.16 feet to a p oi nt;
thence Southwesterly alo ng a cu rve to the left, the center
of which bears S. 38°15'W . f rom said last named p oint having a
radius of 40.00 feet through a central angle of 1O1°x32'13 " for
an arc length of 70.89 feet to a p oint on the Northe asterly line

N. 70"47'E. 58.12 feet to the most Weste rly c orner of L ot 39
of sa id Tr act; thence alo ng the southwesterly line of s aid
Lot 39 N. 51°45'W. 208.36 feet to a point; thence southeasterly
along a cur ve to the right, the center of which bea rs S. 38°15'W .
from sa id last named po int, hav in g a radius of 40.00 feet, thr ough
a central an gle of 101°32'13" for an arc length of 70 .89 feet
to a point on the Northeasterly line of Lot 35 of said Tract;
