USOLUTION OF THECOUNCIL OF Mg CI T OV P41.OALTO
REAFFIRMING ITS SUPPORT OF THE Law PRO4ECT
WHEREAS, the Coun cil of the City of Palo Alto adopted an
o ficial re solutio n on October 9, 1901, supp orti ng the U nited
States Army Co rps of Engin eers' Sur vey Report and Plans for the
Were Dam Pr ojec t, San F ranciaqui;o,Creek, San Mateo and Santa
Clara Coun ties, California; and

tion sa d recrea tion fe atures in addition to its primary pu rpose
of flood c pptrol; and

the wate r con servation a nd r ecreation aspects of said project;
and
WHEREAS, the project is justifie d and r equired on the basis
of flood con trol alon e.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
1. It: is vital that an adequate flood con tro l project on
San Francisquito Creek be authorized, implemented and completed at
the ear liest possible da te in order to prevent disastrous floo ds
comparable to those which hav e devastated this area in the past,
and
2. That the project is not dependen t upon wa ter conser vation
and recreation features to ju stify its au thorization, and
3. That it is the urgent de sire of this Council that the
pro po sed project w ithout the wa ter conservation a nd recre ation
features be inc luded in the 1962 Omnibus Bill, a nd that adva nce
planning funds be autho rise d.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be
tr an smitte d to the City's Congression al represen tative s, United

States Senator Thomas H. Kuchel, U nited States Se nato r Clar e
Engle, and C ongressman Ch arles S. G ubser, with the requ est
that they lend their support to this vital project .
