WHEREAS, the Boa rd of Super vis ors of the County of Santa
Clara a dopted a resolution on November 27, 1961, determini ng that
a portion of Ju niper° Serra Boulevard'withinthe City of Palo
Alto from the intersection of Page Mi11 Ro ad to Arastadero Road
an d Mir anda Avenu e within the City of Palo Alto from 900 feet
northerly of Moana Av enue to its termi natio n on the easterly side
of the Southern Pacific right of w ay, be est ablished as a County
highway a nd a new County highway be laid out, aoquired, c on-
structed and maintain ed within the City of Palo Alto fr om the
intersection of Junipero Ser ra Boulevard and Arastad ero Ro ad to
the Palo Alto city limita' and County boundary at the location
show n on Exhibit A attached to the County r esolution, and request-
ing the City of Palo Alto to r elinquish the portio n of Junipero
Serra Boulevard and Miranda Avenu e her ein described to the County
an d consent to the establishment of a new County highway on n ew
alignment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Cou ncil of the
City of Palo Alto that the City of Palo Alto does hereby con se nt
to r elinquish to the Cou nty of Santa Clara that portl.gn of
Junipero Serra Boulevard within the City of Palo Alto from the
intersection of Page Mill Road to Arastadero Road and Miranda
Av enue within the City of Pa lo Alto from 900 feet nor ther ly of
Moana Avenue to its termination on thereaster ly side of the
Southern Pacific right of way, as a County highway and a pproves
the route an d coneen ts to the establishment by the County of Santa
Clara of a Y eti,.:.County dlighWa' within the City of Palo Alto from
the intersection of Junipero Serra Boulevar d and Arastadero Road

to the P alc Alto city limits and. Co unty boundaries as shown or
Exhibit A attached to the resolution of the Boa rd of S upervisors,
dated November 27, 1961, such route to be a portion of the Foot-
hill Expr essway.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of P alo Alto has
co nsented to relinquish the city st reet herein described and has
approve d the alignment of a new County highway with th e under-
standing that the Cou nty will not commence acquisition of pr ope rty
for this portion of Foothill Expressway, e xcept for property
acqu isition of an urgency n ature, until the City Council has
receiv ed from the County an d it has appro ved construction plans
for this por tion of the Foothill Ex pressway.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of P alo Alto agrees to
maintain at city expense tho se portions of the relinquished city
streets within the City of Palo Alto shown on Exhibit A until
the date contractor comm ences constru ction of this portion of
Foothill Expr essway.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the City Council
is her eby dir ected to file two certified copies of this resolu-
tion with the Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara Co unty.
