THA.T t WHEREAS, the Council of th.e City
of Palo .u to did, on the 30th d.f13' of aaroh. 1920,
pa11 its Reeolution of Intention Jo. ~99 for
opening an alley in tho eouit.nweet halt of Block
?lo. 30 and. t.ne northeast h&1lf of :Block Bo. 20 in
said city; BJld
WHEREAS, this Council finds that the
Street Super1ntendent did d~ly poet and publish
notices cf certain work in the manner and rorm
required by law; and,
WHEP.EAS, thie Couno1l t1nde that the
puolio interest s.nd convenience require said work:
NOW, TIIBRKFORE, ·the said City Couno11
herebJ orders the following work to be done, to-
wi t:
That an alley in the southweeterl1 half
of Block ~O and the northeaeterly half of Block
.20 of the City of .Palo Alto be opened and the
necessary land acquired for this purpose in order
to extend and complete the alle1 in said blocks.
The lands ~eo~eeary and convenient to be
taken for said purpose and which this Council
intends to take therefor. ooneiete or the following
oe:sd.ribed paroele of land lying and being in said
eout.nweeterly half of Block 30 and the northeast-
erly half of Block 20. to-wit:
COMMENCitG at a point on the north-
easterly line of Waverley Street distant thereon
110 feet northwesterly from the point of inter-
section of the northeaeterly line of Waverley
Street with the northwesterly line of University
Avenue; running thence northeasterly and p&rallel
with University Avenue to the soathwesterly line
of Kipling Street: thence northwesterly along
as.id sou.tnweeterly line of Kipling Street 20
feet; thenoe southwesterly and parallel with
University Avenue 225 feet to the northeaeterly
line of Waverley Street; thence eou.theasterly
along said northeas~erly line ot Waverley Street
20 feet to the point of commencement.

hereby made to a map prepared by the City EngineE,r
of the City of Palo Alto and on file in hie office,
entitled "Map of t.he Southwesterly One-hall' o:f
Blook 30 and the ~orthe&aterly One-half o~look
20, Felo Alto, California, Showing Land to be
Taken for a .Public Alley in each of said Blocks
and D1atriot to be Benefited,• which map was
adopted by the Council of the City ot Ralo Alto
on January 12, 192b, ar1d ie hereby made a part
of tnia resolution.
All ot the herein proposed work ehall
be done in purau&noe of an Act of the Legi•lature
of the State of California, entitled: "An Act
to Provide for the Laying ~ut, Opening, Extending,
Widening, Straightening or c.baing Up, in Whole
or in iart, Any Street, ~q.u.are, Lane, Alle1,
Court or J.>lace Within .W.uD.icipe.litiea, and the
Condemning and Acquiring of Any and All Lands

objections have beon filed againet said proposed
work ~d improvement, and more than ten d81'1
have elapsed einoe the expiration of the time
ot the publication of eaid notice of the pa11ag~
of said resolution and the Council of the c1t1
of P8lo Alto has acquired juriediotion to order
eaid work as propoeed in said resolution to be
done:

and to nave general supervision of said work
until completion tnereof, in compliance with an
aot of the Legislature of the State of California,
approved Uarch 6, 1889, and entitled"An Act
.i'roviding for Le,ying Out, Opening, Extending,
Widening, Straightening or Closing Up, in Whole
or in iart, CJ.Y Street, Square, Lane, Alley,
Court, or Place within Kun1oipal1t1ea, and to

Neoese&ry or Convenient for that Purpose".
For their services, said commiasionere eht:Ll.l

determine from time to time. as provided by
ea1d aot. for the time actually engaged in
performing said service. Said comm1se1onere
shall report their progress in said work to
this Council from time to time as re4uired, and
eha.1.1 make and file t)leir final report with
said Council.
Before proceeding with the performance
of tllei:r duties, each of the ieaid comm1ee1oners
ehall file with tne Clerk of this Counoil an
Affidavit and a bond to the State o:r California,
in the sum of five tnoueand dollars, to faith-
fully perform the dut1ee·of h:Le of:t'ice in the
manner and rorm required by law.
The above and foregolng resolnt1on was
duly paseed by the City Council of the City of
ie.lo Alto, on the l~th day of July, 192!>, by
