RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE
SPECIAL ELECTION FIELD IN THE CITY OF PALO
ALTO, COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA STATE OF
CALIFORNIA ON NOVEMBER 8, 1960 UPON A
REFERENDUM OF AN ORDINANCE ZONING CERT AIN
LANDS OF STANFORD UNIVERSITY.
WHEREAS, on the 8th of August 1960 the Council of the
City of Palo Alto, County of Santa Clara, State of California,
by Resolution No. 3263 duly passed and published did call a
special election to be held in said City and to be cons olidated
with the State and County General Ele ction on the 8th day of
November, 1960 for the pur pose of submitting to the qu alified
voters of said City the fo llow ing proposed measu re, to wit:

Palo Alto City Coun cil on May 23, 1960?
and
WHEREAS, due an d legal notice of sa id special election wa s
given as requ ir ed by law an d by said Resolutio n, and
W HEREAS, on the 8th day of November, 1960, at the hour of
7:00 o'clock in the mor ning of said day the po lls were duly and
re gularly opened for said special election in said City an d said
polls w ere co ntinuously kept open fo r said purpose fro m the time
they wer e so opened u ntil 7:00 o'clock of the afternoon of said
day and during said hours of said 8th da y of No vember , 1960, a
special election wa s held in said City of Palo Alto on said
measur e a nd in ac corda nce with said r esolu tion , a nd
WHEREAS, immediately thereafter said special election was
regularly an d duly ca nva sse d by the Board of Superviso rs of the
County of Sa nta Clar a as pro vided in said Resolution and the results

of said special election duly declared as f ollows, to wit:
That the total number of votes give n and cast at said special
election upon said measure, i ncludi ng v otes cast upon absentee
ballots was 23,827 votes of which total number of votes gi ven and
cast 13,713 were in favor of said measure a nd 10,114 against said
measu re.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED and it is hereby resolved:
1. That a special electi on w as duly and r egularly c alled
and held in all things according to Resoluti on No . 3263 of said
City of Palo Alto duly a dopted for th e objects and purposes therein
specified and according to the laws of the State of C alif ornia.
2. That a majority of the qualified electors voti ng in said
special election having cast their ba llots in favo r of a referendum
proposition entitled "Referendum on Ordin ance Zo ning Ce rtain Lans
of Stanford University" sa id pr oposition is hereby decl ared to
have bee n passed.
The above and fore going reso lution was duly an d regularly
introduced a nd passed at a re gular meeting of the. Coun cil of th e
Cicy of Palo Alto on Monday the 12th da y of December, 1960 by the
following votes:
AYES Ball, Bisho p, B yxbee, Davis, E vans, Giffin, H aight, Ma rsha ll,
Mitchell, Na vis, Porter, Ro dgers, Stephens, Woodwa rd.
NOES: No ne .
ABSENT: Zwen g,
