County of Santa Clara, State of Cal. if ornia, b;,r
ordinance dul~1 passed and published, did call
a speoie:J. election. to be held in said city, on
the Sth day of August, 1924, for the purpose
of submitth1g to the qualified voters of said
o1ty, a proposition to incur a bonded indebted-
ness of said city, to-wit:

WHEREAS> due and legal notice of
said apeoial election was given. as required
by law and by ordir.anc~; and,
WHEREAS, on the said 8th day of
Auguat, 1924, at the hour of eix O'clock in the
morning of aald day, the polle were duly and
regularly opened for aal d special election in
ee.i d c 1 ty, and sa1 d polls were cont1rn1ously kept
open for eaiU. purpose from the time they were
so opened until seven o'olook in the afternoon
of said day, and during said hour13 of said 8th
day of AU0uet, 1924, a special election was held
in. said city of Palo Al.to, for ttie incurring of
an indeotedneas on the said propositions, and
in ~coorda.nce With eaid ordhtanoe; and
WHEREAS, immediately thereafter ea.id
apeoial election wae regularly and duly oanvaeecd
by the duly conat.i tuted officers bJ law appointed
for that purpose and the result of said special
eleotiOtl was thereafterwa.rde made o.nd del ive:rf;d
to the council of aaid city, as by law and by said
ordinance required: and,
WHEREAS, therenft~rwards, to-wit, on
the 11th day of August, 1924, at the hour of eight
o'clock in the evening of said day, the eaid
council did, at t~e place req~ired by law and by
eaid ordinance duly convene and proceed to and
did canvass said returns of said apeoia~eleetion

proposition number 2, being to incur a bonded
indebtedness of twenty thouee.nd dollars for the
acquisition and oonetruotion of additions and
betterments for the water plant of said city was
825 of which total number of votes so given and
oaet. there were given and cast 607 votes in
favor of said proposition e.nd 18 votes against
said proposition; and
WHEREAS, in o:rdcr to authorize the
inc11rring of indcbte'dneea and the issusnoe of
bonds therefor upon any proposition aubnitted
at any epecial election os.lled and held for 'that
purpose. thel'e muet be given and ca.et .for and in
favor of ea.id propositions so submitted and voted
upon. the votes of at leaet two-thirds of all
the voters voting 8.t se,id epecial election:

was duly nnd regularly called and held in all
things aooording to ordinance of said City of ~alo
Al to, duly adopted for the objeota and :purposes
therein specified, and a.coord.ing to the la.we of
the State of California:
(2) That the total votes cast and
given e.t said specis.l election v:ere duly and
regularly ca11vaeeed and found to be 653 votes:
( 3) That the total number of votea
given and cast at said apecial election upon
said proposition number 1, for the objects and
purposes therein set forth, was 845 votes, of
wh1oh total number of votes so given and cast,
there were given and cast 826 votes in favor of
said proposition and 19 votes against said
propoe.ition; and that the total number of votes
given and cast upon said proposition number 2,
for the ob jeots: &rl.d purposes therein set foe th.
was 625 votes, of which total number of vo tee so

WHEREAS, the rapid growth of the
.Peninsula has renderea the present highways
entirely inadequate to take cere of the
transportation needs of this district, and
WHEREAS, the continued growth e.r..d
economic development of th~s section is so
dependent upon a.ddi t iona.1 highway facilities.
and
WHEP.EAS, this need is immediate
a.nd urgent.
Tl::IBRE.l!'OP.E, BE IT RESOl VED, that
the City Council of the City of Palo Alto
does request that the Bay Shore Highway running
from Army Street directly to San Jose, and the
Skyline Boul~vard runnir~ from Woodwardia to
Salinas aud Gilroy. be constructed as soon aa
possible, and

bonds cf 1924 of the City of Palo Alto, numbered
from l to 32 inclusive, of the denomination of
one thousand. dolla.:rs each, and dated September l,
1924, bearing interest a.t the rate of five per
cent per s.nnum, pa;,raule semi-annually on .l.larch let
and September lat of each year, said bonds ma.turiz:g
in numerical order on September lat of each year
from 1925 to 19~2 inclusive (all payable in gold
co.in of the United Statt:s) be o.nd they a.re hereby
sold to Blyth, Witter & Company a. t the price

an alley in Block 5 of the City of Palo Alto,
by publ ica ti on of euch notice, in the manner
and fo nn required by law, for ten days in the
