WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto is contemplating the construc-
tion of an outfall sewer and trunk sewer from the proposed loca-
tion of the Veterans Administration Hospital in territory known as
"Stanford University Annexation No. 5" to the City's sewer treat-
ment'plant; and
WHEREAS, the oondutts for said outfall sewer and trunk sewer
will pans through the L*a Encinas Sanitary District;
NOW, THEREPORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
resolve as follows:
1. That the City Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds
and declares that the City's location is such that certain portions
of its territory cannot be adequately or conveniently provided with
sanitary sewer conduits unless such conduits are constructed and
maintained in, across and along certain streets or other public
places of the Las Encinas Sanitary District.
2. That a description of the conduits proposed to be con-
structed and maintained in the Las Enel.nas Sanitary District and a
description of the streets or other public places in, across or
along which the conduits are proposed to be constructed and main-
tained are an set forth in a document entitled "Plan and Profile
for Construction of Outfall Sewer and East Trunk Sewer, Stanford,
California," dated November 11, 1956, consisting of ten sheets,'bn

file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Palo Alto
and which document is hereby incorporated herein by reference.
3. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
sign a written request in behalf of the City of Palo Alto to the
Board of Directors of the Las Encinas Sanitary District for per-
mission to construct and maintain the conduits described in this

4. That this resolution ie'adopted pursuant to the provisions
of Sections 55020-55028 of the Government Code of the State of
California.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and paseed at a regular meeting of the Council of the
City of Palo Alto on Monday, the 10th day of
