GIVING MO'.t'ICE OF THI PROPOSBD AllNEXATIO:tl OP CBRTAIN
UNINHABI'l'KD .AND UHINCORlORATED TERRITORY DI THE
COUNTY. 01' SANTA CLARA, STATE OP C.AJ,IPORHIA, CONTIGU-
OUS TO THE CITY 01' PALO ALTO, DESIGNA'l'BD AS 0 BL CAMINO RIAL ANNEXATION NO. 2," AND GIVIMG.NOTICE 01 TIME AND PLACE .FOR HEARING OF PRO'l'ISTS THERETO.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the "Annexation or Un1nbab1ted Terri-
tory Act or 1939," there has been presented to the Council ot
the City or Palo Alto a petition executed by Ray E. O'Brien, and
ot.bers, requesting the annexation or that certain property situ-
ated in the =ounty ot Santa Clara, State ot California, and des-
cribed as follows:
Beginning at the point or intersection or tbe
center line or Adobe Creek with tne Northeasterly
line ot the San Jose and San Pranciaco Road (State
Highway) as said Northeastarly line is described 1n
the Deed from J. L. Thompson and Grace B. Tbompaon,
his w1te, to the State of Cal1torn1a by Deed dated
October 28, 1929 and recorded Janua17 ~, 1930 in
Book 49~ of Official Reoords, page 481, Santa Clara
County Records, said point ot beginning being in the
City Limits line ot the City of Palo Alto; running
tbeuoe along the present Northeasterly 11ne of ea1d
San Jose and San Francisco Road Southeasterly to the
point ot interaeot1on thereof with tbe Southeasterly
line of that certain parcel or land conveyed by Mary
Collier Phillips, executrix or the estate of Prank D.
Phillipe to Jamee Cesano, et ux, by Deed dated
September l, 1944 and recorded September l, 1944 in
Book 1214 of Ott1cial Records, page 456, Santa Clara
Count1 Records; running thence along the SoutbeaBt-
erly line ot said parcel or land so conveyed to
Ceaano, Northeaat.erly to the moat Easterly col"ller
thereof; thence running &long the Northeasterly line
of said Ceeano parcel, Northwesterly to tbe MO&t
Northerly corner thereof; tbence running along tbe
Northwesterly line ot said parcel ot land so conveyed
to Ce1ano1 Southwesterly to the moat Easterly corner ot that certain parcel of land conveyed by John
Schmid, et ux, to George P. Casten, et ux, by Deed
d.ated December 2, l.954 and recorded December 6, 1954
in Book 3025 ot Official Hecorda, page 433, Santa
Clara County Records; running tbtmce along the
Northeasterly line ot said parcel or land so conveyed
to Caeten, and along the Northwesterly prolongation
ot aa1d Northeasterly l1ne Of the C&sten parcel,
Northwesterly to the point ot intersection or said
Northwesterly prolonged l1ne with the Southeasterly

the Southeasterly prolongation of the Northeasterly
line or that certain parcel or land conveyed by Helen
Hartsuck to Raymond R. Taylor, et ux, by Deed dated
May 27, 1935 and recorded May 31, 1935 in Book 727 of
Official Records, page 530, Santa Clara County Records;
thence running along said Southeasterly prolongation of
the Northeasterly line of said parcel of land so con-
veyed to Taylor, and along the Northeasterly 11ne or
said parcel or land so conveyed tc Taylor, Northwest-
erly to the center line or Adobe Creek, and the City
Limits line of' the City or Palo Al;;o; thence running
along the center line or Adobe Creek and along the
City Limits line of the City or Palo Alto, Southwest-
erly to the point or beginning;
W!i:BREAS, said territory is uninhabited, unincorporated ter-
ritory contiguous to the City ot Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, said petition is executed by ttie owners 01' not less
than one-fourth (1/4) of the land in such territory by area and
assessed value on the last equalized assessment roll Of· the County
or Santa Clara, .state of Culiforn1a, j.n which such territory is
situated; and
W!iEREAS, the County Boundary Commias1on of Santa Clara
County, California, has approved tbe proposed annexation boun-
daries of said property;
NOW THEP.EF'ORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of
Palo Alto:
Sect:t.on l. That pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited
Territory Act of 1939," the Coi.mc11 of the City of Palo Alto
hereby gives notice of said proposed annexation.
Sect:lon 2. Said territory hereb;y is dea1gnnted for identi-
fication as "El Camino Real Annexation No. 2.11
.§._ection 3. Said terri·tory, upon annexa t1on, a hall become
part of the Palo Alto Unified School District.
Section 4. The 25th day of April, 1955, at the hour or
7:30 o'clock P.M. of said day, in the council ChambeI's in the

City Hall in the City of Palo Alto, County of Santa Clara,
California, is hereby fixed as the t1me and place when and where
any person owning real property within the uninhabited territory
above described and proposed to be annexed to the City of Palo
Alto and having any objections to the proposect annexation may
appear before the Counc.11 or the City of Palo Alto and show cause
w~y such uninhabited territory ahould not he so annexed to said
City of Palo Alto. Such protest must be in writing, may be tiled
at any time before the hour set to~ hearing objections to the
proposed annexation, and shall sta·te the name or names or the
owner or owners or property affected and the description and area
of such property in general terms.
Section s. The City Clerk ol' the City or Pa.lo Jl,lto ls
hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy or this res~lution
to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once a week,
in the Palo Alto Times, a newspaper of gene1·al circulation pub-
lished in said City of Palo Alto, the city to which it la proposed
to annex the aroreaaid terr1·i;ory / and also in the San Jose Mercury,
a newspaper ot general circulation published outside the City of
Palo Alto but in the County or Santa Clara, Cal1t'orn1a,, the county
in which is located the territory proposea to be annexed to the
City, said publication to be complete at least twenty (20) days
prior to the date set for hearing;
And the said City Clerk 1s further authorized and d:i.rected
to cause written notice of such propoBed am1exat1on to be mailed
to each person to wnom land within the territory proposed to be
annexed is assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll
available on the date the above said proceedings we:r.e initiated,
at the addresses shown on said assessment roll or known to said
Clerk, and to any person who has filed his name and address and

the designation of' the lands in which he has an interest, either
le~al or equitable, with said Clerk, such notice to be g1ven not
less than twenty (20) days before tbe 1"1.rst public hearing on
the proposed annexation;
And the City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to be
given to such other persona as may be leg&lly entitled thereto in
~he manner required by law.
The above and foregoing :resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and passed at a regular meeting ot the Council or the
City ot Palo Alto held on Monday, the 28th day or March , ------
1955, by the following vote:
