RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OP PALO ALTO
DECLARIHO ITS :Uft'EN'.l'IO.M TO CALL A SPECIAL BLEC'l'ION
IN CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS TO SAID CITY PROPOSED TO BE ADBXBD T!IERBTO l'OR THE PURPOSE
OP SUBMITTING TO THE QUAtIPIKD ELECTORS RESIDING IN
SAID TERRITORY THE QUESTION WHE'rHER OR NOT SAID TBR-
RITORY SHALL EZ.All'.NEXED.TO '!'HB CI'l'Y OF PALO ALTO,
AND PIXING A TIME AND PUCE.WHEN AND WKBRB ANY PER-
SON OWNING REAL PROPERTY WITHIN SUCH TERRITORY MAY
APPEAR BEFORE SAID.CITY COUNCIL AND SHOW CAUSE WHY SUCH TERRITORY SHOULD.NO'!' BE SO ANNEXED.
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council ot the City ot Palo Alto:
Section l. That it is the intention ot the Council of the
City of Palo Alto to call a special election to be held on the
7th day of June, 1955, in oerta1n inhabited territory contiguous
to said City proposed tc.1 be annexed thereto tor the purpose or
submitting to the qualH'1ed electors rea1ding in said territlory
the quest1on whether or not eaid territory shall be annexed ;to
the City of Palo Alto and the property in the territory subj:ected
to taxation after annexation equally with property within t~e City
" of Palo Alto to pay the bonded 1ndebtedneaa ot: the City ot f'alo
Alto outstanding or authorized at the date ot the tiling ot:the
petition tor annexation for the acqu1ait1on, construction or com-
pletion or municipal improvements. Said territory is descr1bea
as .follows:
Beginning at a point on the Northeaeterly line or
the San Francisco and San Jose Road, U. S. Highway 101 1 as shown on the State or California Division or Highway Construction Plana tor D1str1ot IV, Santa Clara County,
Route 2, Section A, said Highway being coJ1m1only known
as El Camino Real, which po1.nt ia the moat Southerly
corner of the Bartley Tract Map No. 3 as shown upon a
Mop recorded in Book 11011 ot Maps, at page 66, Recorde ot Santa Clara County, Cal1torn1ai thence trom aa1d
point of beg1n.~1ng Soutbeast.erly along said Northeasterly
line ot El Caa1no Real to the center 11no ot Yeguaa,
known ae Adobe, Creek; thence Southwesterly along said
o~nter line ot Adobe Creek to the prolongation ot the
Northerly line or the Alta Mesa Ceaetery; thence along
said prolongation and Northerly line of Alta Mesa
Cemetery 1n a westerly direction to the Southerly line

Section 2. That said territory hereby ia designated and
identified tor such election purposes and tor use upon the bal-
lotc at such election as 11Barron Park Annexation. 11
Section 3. Notice hereby is given that on the llth day or
April, 1955, at the hour of 7:30 p.m., in the council Chamber or
the City Hall ot the City ot Palo Alto, any person owning real
property within said territory so proposed to be annexed and hav-
ing any objection to the proposed annexation may appear before said
City Council and show cause why such territory should not be so
annexed. Such protest must be in writing ar,d may be made at any
time not later than the hour set ror hearing objections to the
election and shall state the nane or names or the owner or owners
or the property arteoted oy such annexation and the lo~ation and
area or such property in general terms. It it be round that pro-
test is not made by owners of a maJority or the separate parcels
or property within the territory proposed to beauiexed, further
proceedings shall be taken in accordance with the law tor the
holding or such special election.

Section 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
o!' this resolution and cause the same to be published in the Palo
Alto Times once a week for the two weeks prior t~ tbe said hear-
ing.
The above and foregoing resolution waa duly and regularly
introduced and passed at a regular meeting ot the Council ot the
City ot Palo Alto held on Monday, the
1955, by the tollow1ng vote:
