A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
CONSENTING TO 'l'HE COMMENCEMENT OF ANNEXATION PROCEED-
INGS FOR THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO OF
CERTAIN INHABITED, UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY IN THE
COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, CONTIGUOUS
TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO, DES:'.'.':'NATED AS "EL CAMINO REAL
ANNEXATION NO. 111
WHEREAS, on August 9, 1954, a petition was presented to the
Council of the City or Palo Alto requesting the Council to give
its consent to the conunencement of annexation proceedings in con-
nection with that certain inhabited territory therein referred to
and generally dE'.sc:r.:.bed which is crmt1guous to the City of ralo
Alto; and
WHEREAS, said petition was referred to the Planning Com-
mission of the Cit~ of Pal0 Alto for investigation, report ~nd
recommendat.1on; and
WHEREAS, the Plan:.11ng Commission rendered its report and
reconunendat1on to the Council on the 23rd day of August, 1954,,
favoring the corrunencement of annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS,, thE: County Boundary Commission of Santa C"'.ara
County bas hereto~'-.Jre approved the proposed boundaries of said
El Camino Real Annexation No. l as to definiteness and certainty;
and
WHEREAS,, it is the desire 01' the Council to give its con-
sent t·::> the commencement of such annexation proceedings upon
the condition that the elec·cors within said territory be informed
at the time the petition for annexation is circulated that the
question to be sub~1ttcd to said electors shall be whether the
territory shall be annexed and the property in the te·rritory sub-
jected to taxation after annexation equally witn th~ property
within the City of Palo Alto to p&y the e11tire bonded indebted-
ne'ss of the City of Pale Ai to outstanding or authorized at the
date of the 1'111ng of the petition for annexa·tion for the acqui-
sition, construction or completion of municipal improvements;

NOW THEREFORE, the council of the City or Palo Alto does
resolve as followa:
Section 1. That consent be and hereby is granted for the
corrunencement of annexation proceedings in comiection with said
inhabited territory in accordance with the Annexation Act of
1913, provided the petition for annexation contains a request
t~at the question to be submitted to the elector3 res1d1ng in
the territory proposed to be annexed shall be whether the ter-
ritory shall be annexed and the property in the terrltory sub-
jected to taxation after annexat:ion equally with property within
the City of Palo Alto to pay the bonded 1ndebted~~ss af ~e City
of Palo Alto outstanding or authorized at the date of the filing
of the :petition i'or annexation for the acquisition, construction
2nd completion of municipal improvements.
Section 2. That said unincorporated territory be and hereby
is designated as "El Camino Real Annexation No. 1, 11 is bounded
generally as follows: on the northeast by Alma Street, on the
southeast by Adobe Creek, on the southwest by El Camino Real and
on the northwest by the City limits or the City of Palo Alto, and
is described as follows:
Beginning at a po1nt upon the existing boundary
11ne·of the City of Palo Alto, said point being at
the intersection of the Northeasterly line of State
Highway S. c::.., IV Route 2, Sec. A, commonly known as
El Camino R~al, 100 feet wide, at the Southeasterly
line of the Bartley Tract, Subdivision No. 3, recorded
lt'cbruary 26, 1915, in Book 11 011 01' Maps, at page 6G,
Official Rccorda of Santa Clara County, California;
thence from saij point of beginning N. 33° 21' E.
along said Southeasterly line of the Bartley Tract
and its prolongation to the Northeasterly line of
Alma Street as it exists 100 feet wide; thence South-
easterly along said Northeaste:;;,•ly line ?f Alma dtreet
to the center line of E. MeadO\\! Drive, formerly known
as I>iss Road; thence Southwesterly along said center
l1n'-: of E. Meadow Drive to its intercection wi'~h the
.former Northeasterly line of AJ.ma Street as it existed
~O feet wide; thence So~theasterly alvng said former
Northeasterly line of Alma Street to the center line
of Yeguas (Adobe) Cregk; thence Southwesterly along
said center line of Yeguas (Adobe) Creek to the North-
easterly line of said State Highway known as El Ca:nino
Real; thence .Northwesterly along said Northeast~rly
line of El Camino Real to the point of bet;inn1ng.

The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and passed by the Council of the City of Palo Alto
at a regular meeting held on Monday, the 23rd
1954, by the followin,g vote:
