RKSOLUT!ON Oll' INTENTION FOR THl!: CLOSING OF A POR-TION OF EL CARMELO AVENUE BE'I'W'KBN ALMA STREBT A.ND
WAVERLEY STREET IN ?HE CITY OF PALO ALTO
The Council or the City of Palo Alto DOES JUtSOLVB as follows:
Section 1. That it 18 the intention of the Council of
the City or Palo Alto to order the following work and improvement
to be done in said city:.
That the Northwesterly 5 feet and the
Southwasterly 5-feet of El Carmelo
Avenue between Alma Street and Waverley
Street in the City of Palo Alto;
~ be closed and abandoned.
Section 2. That in the opinion of the Council no assess-
ment 1s necessary for this proceeding.
Section 3. Said work and improvement is to be had and
taken pursuant to the provisions of Article 3 of Ordinance No.
844 of the City or Palo Alto1 commonly known and dee1.;nated as
the Palo Alto Improvement Procedure Code, said ordinance having
been adopted by the Council of the City of Palo Alto on January
Section 4. For a more particular description of the work
to be done hereunder, reference is hereby made to that certain
map or plan on file w1th the Suierintendent of Streets or the
City of Palo Alto and entitled Map for the closing of portions or El Carmelo Avenue", as shown on Drawing No. 11,978, prepared
by H. M. Witbeck, Street Superintendent and City Engineer of
the City or Palo Alto on July 10, 1952.
Section 5. Notice is hereby given that Monday, the
25th day of August, 1952, at the hour of 7:30 P.M., at the
Council Chambers of the City of Palo Alto, in the City Hall,
Palo Alto, California, be and the same 1s hereby set as the day,
hour and place where and when a~y and all persons nav1ng any
objections to the proposed work or improvements, may appear
before aa1d Council and show cause why said proposed work
should not be carried out 1n accordance with this resolution.
Section 6. The Daily Palo Alto Times, a daily newspaper
published and circulated in the City of Palo Alto, or general
circulation, 1e hereby designated aa the newspaper in which
the City Clerk of the City of Palo Alto shall cause to be pub-
lished in the manner and form required by law, a copy of this
Resolution of Intention, by causing same to be published twice

in said newspaper prior to the date cf the hearing of objections to
the proposed work and improvement.
Section 7. The Superintendent of Streets of said city
shall cause to be conspicuously posted on one side of the above
mentioned street, alo~g the line of said contemplated work and
improvement, notices of the passage of this resolution or in-
tention in the time, manner and form prescribed by law,

The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and passed at a regular meeting or the Council or
the City of Palo Alto, held on tho 28th day of July, 1952,
by the rollow1ng vote:
