ACQUISITION AND IMPROVEMENT

RESOLVED, by the Council or the City of Palo Alto, Cal1f-
orn1a, that 1t does hereby pr•elim1nar1ly determine that the
public convenience and necessity require, and that 1t intends to
order the following acquisitions to be had and improvements to be made in and for said City, to-wit:
l(a) The improving or Loma. Verde Avenue from Alma Street
to Middlefield Road, 11 Carmelo Street from Alma Street to
Waverley Street, Bryant Street and South Court from Matadero
Canal to Loma Verde Avenue, Waverley Street from Matadero Canal
to the Stanford University Villa Tract, and Cowper Street from
Matadero Carial to Loma Verde Avenue, by acquiring and abandoning
eaeementa necessary to attain uniform 60-foot width on all the

f oregolng streets except Loma Verde Avenue from a point approx1m-
a te ly 150 feet northerly or Ramona Street to Alma Street, where
easements necessary to attain uniform 65-foot width will be ac-
quired, and by grading, conetruct1ng vitrified clay pipe sanitary
sewer services, copper or galv·an1zed iron pipe water services,
and wrapped steel gaa services, and installing electroliers complete
with Portland cement concrete bases and with underground conduit and conductor cable.
(b) The construction ot storm water catch basins, manholes, drain pipe, and appurtenances in Middlefield Road from Matadero
Canal to Dry Creak and 1n Cowper Street from Loma Verde Avenue to Dry Creek.
(c) The construction or all work auxiliary to the above and which may be required to carry out same.
2. There is hereby excepted from the above work that which is already done to line and grade.
3. Notice is hereby given or the fact that in rnany cases
said work and improvement will bring the finished surface of the
improved streets to a grade different from the surface of such
streets as they now exist, and that to said extent said gr~des
are hereby changed and that said work will be done to said changed grades.
4. All of said work shall be done under the supervision
of the City Engineer of the City of Palo Alto, and all of said
work and materials shall be done and furnished to h1s satis-faction.
5. Said contemplated work, acquisitions and improvements
are or more than local or ordinary public benefit, and the coat and
expense or doing said work and the expenses incidental thereto, shall
be made chargeable upon the district benefited thereby, the
boundaries or which are more particularly shown on the map of
said assessment district on file in the office or the Clty
Engineer or said City, t? which reference is hereby 1Dade for a more detailed description thereof.

Procedure Code, the laat installment or which shall mature nine
(9) years from the second day or July next succeeding ten months
from their date.
7. Exc~pt as here1n otherwise provided ror the issuance
or bondsg all or the above proposed work shall be done in pur-
suance or the provisions of Article V or said Palo Alto Improvement Procedure Code.

1952, at the hour or 7:30 o'clock P.M. at the Council C~ambers of the City
Council of said City 1n the City Hall or said City ar~ hereby fixed

as the time and plac~ when and where any and all persons interested
may appear and show cause~ if any they have, why the City Council
should not find and determine that the public convenience and
necessity require the improvement described and referred to in
th1a resolution, without further compliance with the Special
Assessment Investig~t1on, Limitation and Majority Protest Act or 1931.
9. The Clerk or the City or Palo Alto shall give notice of
the adoption of this reaolut1on by publishing a Notice of Pro-
poeed Local Improvement once in the Palo Alto Times, a daily
newspaper published and circulated in sa:l.d City, and by posting
same on or near the Co1mc11 Chamber door of said Council, said
posting and publication to be had at least ten days before said
date or hearing.

I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true copy of resolu-
tion adopted by the City Council of the City of Palo Alto,
California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 26th day of
November, 1951, by the following vote of the members thereof:
AYES, and in favor thereof~ Coune1lmen:
Bishop, Blois, Bowden, Cashel, Cathcart, Drysdale, Gaspar,
Hill, Miller, Mitchell, Montreuil, Simpson, Wickett.
NOES; Councilmen: None.
