RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO BAYSHORE FREEWAY CONSTRJCT!ON
WHEREAS, The C1.ty Council of the c::.ty of Palo Alto
is aware of the urgent necessity for the early construction
of the Bayahore Freeway between San Mateo and San Jose ln order
to relieve the present congestion and hazardous traffic
conditiona en the Bayshore Highway; and
WHEREAS, sald Council 1s aware of the very greatly
j ncreased traffic accidents oceurr1 ng on said Highway d~ir l ng
the flrst elght months or 1951, resul~ing in loos of lives
and personal injuries, and hundreds of thousands of dollars
of property damage; and
WHEREAS, said Council feels that for the benefit of
the c:!. tlzen1:1 or Palo Al to an<.1 those of the ne:!.ghborlng
communlties,it is 1ncurnbent upon them to urge the early
construction of' the Freeway.;
NOW, THEREFORE, the CouncJ.l of the City of Palo Alto
DOES RESOLVE as foJ.lows:
Th.D.t the Honorable E:u-1 Warren, Governor or the
State of California, and the Division of Highways of the State
of Ca lifornla, be and they are hereby urged to take the
necessa:r:y steps to bring about the early construction of the
extension of the Eayshore Freeway between the City of San ~~teo
and the City or San Jose.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, thnt copies of this resolut!on
be sent to the Honorable Earl Warren and the Division or Highways of the State of California.
The above and foregoing resolution was d1Jly and
regularly introduced and passed by the Council of the City
of Palo Alto at a regular meetlng held on Monday, the 13th day or August, 1951, by the following vote:
