RESOLVED,, by the Council of the City ot Palo Alto, Cal1torn1a,,
that
l. In 1ta opinion the public interest, convenience, and
necessity require, and that it is the 1ntent1on or said Council
to order the tollow1ng work to be done and improvements to be
made in said City, to wit:
A. The improving ot Amarillo Avenue between Louis Road and
the easterly boundary ot the Greer Park Subdivision by acquiring
10 feet on each aide thereof to obtain uniform 60-foot width and
Diss Road from Alma Street to M1ddlet1eld Road by acquiring 30 feet
on the northwesterly side of the monument line thereof from its in-
tersection with the northeasterly line or Tract No. 587, recorded
January 22, 1951, Book 31 ot Maps at page 39, 40, and ~l, to Middle-
field Road, and acquiring 35 teet on the southeasterly side or the
monument 11ne thereof from the northeasterly line of Charleston
Meadows Subd1v1e1on No. 3 to Middletield Road, by grading, removing
trees and ex1at1ng structures., conatruct1ng or reconstructing Port-
land cement concrete cu.rbs, gutters, aidewalke,, stortn water catch
basins, manholes, and drain pipe,, constructing crushed rock
base pavement w1th plant mix wearing surface between gutter lips,
constructing vi tri:f'ied clay pipe sa.n1 tary sewer serv1cee, copper
or galvanized 1ron pipe water services, and wrapped ate~l pipe
gas services, and installing eleetrol1ers complete with condult
and conductor cable, Portland. cement c<mcrete bases and appurte-
nant equipment and t1xtures.
B. The improving or Louis Road between Embarcadero Road and
Colorado Avenue 'by acquiring 5 teet on each side thereof to obtain
uniform 60-root width and Ross Road trom Seale-Wooster Canal to
Colorado Avenue by acquiring 10 feet on each aide thereof to ob-
tain uniform 60-toot width< by grading, removing trees and exist-
ing structures, constructing or reconstructing Portland cement con-
crete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm water catch basinn, and
d~a1n pipe, constructing crushed rock base pavement with plant
mix wearing 8urfave between gutter 11pe, constructing vitrified
clay pipe sanitary sewer se~v1ces, copper or galvanized iron pipe
water services, and wrapped steel pipe gas services, and inetall-
1ng electrol1ere complete with conduit and conductor cable,
Portland cement concrete bases and appurtenant equipment and
fixtures.
C. The improving ot Colorado Avenue between Middlefield
Road and Louis Road by acquiring 10 reet on each side thereof to
obtain uniform 60-toot width, by grading, removing trees and

!. All oth~r work auxiliary to any or the above, wh1eh may be
required to carry out the same.
2. Whenever any public way 1e herein referred to as running
betwe~n two public waya, or from or to any public wa7, the 1nter-
aect1ona of the public ways referred to are included to the extent
that work shall be shown on the plana to be done thereon.
3. Said streets, avenuea, roads, courtn, and rights of way
are more part1cularly shown 1n the records or the ort1ce or the
County Recorder or Santa Clara County, Calitorn1a, and are ah~wn
upo:n the plans herein ref.erred to and filed with the City Clerk.
4. All or said work and improvements are to be constructed
at the places and 1n the particular locations, of the forms, s!zea,
dimensions, and materials, and to the lines and grades, and at the
elevations, as shown and delineated upon the plans, profiles, and
specifications made therefor and preliminarily approved by the
Council at a regular meeting thereof duly held on the 26th day or
March, 1951, and on file in the office or the City Bngineer in the
CityHall, reference to which is hereby made tor a full and deta1led
description of ca1d proposed work and for further part1cular8.
5. There 1a hereby excepted from the work above described.
any or such work already done to line and grade, and marked excep-
ted or shown not to be done on the plans, profiles, and spec1r1ca-
t1ons.
6. The Council does hereby adopt and establish as the grades
for ea1d work the grades and elevations shown upon said plans and
prof1las, to which reference is hereby made for a descr1pt1on
thereof. All such grades and elevations are in feet and decimals
thereof in reference to the orricial base and datum or said City.
!n many cases said grades are new or different from the surface
of the ground.
·7. All of sa1d work and improvements shall be done under
the auper·1rj.sion of the City Bngtneer, and all said work and materials
shall be done and furnished to hio eat1araet1on.
· 8. Not1.ce 1s hereby given that, pursuant to Section 2 of
Article V of Ordinance No. 844 of said City, commonly designated
"Palo Alto Improvement Proc<'dure Code", adopted January 13, 1941,
the City Engineer has filed with the CityClerk, accompanying the
plans and spec1ficat1ons above referred to, a statement or the
total and itemized estimated ·cost of said improvements, inclusive.
of incidental coste and expenses or this proceeding, stating therein
separately the estimated cost or each class of construction pro-
posed, and the incidental expenses such as engineering •nd inspec-
tion, and the eost of' preparing proceedings, the total estimated
cost of which ia stated as $279,210.53, which is open to public
inspection.
9. Sa1d contemplated acqu1ait1one and improvements, 1n the
opinion o.f this Council, are or more than local or ordinary pub-
lic benefit, and the cost and expense of doing said work and the
expenses incidental thereto, shall be 1made chargeable upon the

d1atr1ct benefited thereby, which district shall consist or the
coneolidated and composite area.a ot all or the parcels or property
fronting on ea1d acquisition and work, together with all proper-
ties fronting on any street within on•-halt block or an 1nteraee-
t1on which is being improved, and. the exterior boundaries or said
d1etr1ct are hereby declared to be the coterminous boundaries
or eald composite and consolidated area. The properties so bene-
f1 ted, and the boundaries the1•eof', are more particularly shown on
the map of 1&1d anaeesment dletriet on file 1n the orr1ce or the
City Clerk, to which l"'eferenc• 11 hereby made ror a morct detaj.led description thereof.
10. Notice 1s further given that there 1e on file with the
City Engineer a diagram or the assessment district ehow1ng each
lot or subdivision or land to be assessed and the dimensions
thereof, and an aseeesment or the estimated cost of said work and
improvements upon said lots and parcels according.to benefits
to be received from said work and improvements, each of which have
corresponding numbers or each such lot or parcel.
ll. All ·publicly owned property in said assessment district,
shall be assessed for its share of the coat of eaid benefits and
the amount thereof paid in cash by the City. All public streets,
alleys 1 arid ways in use in the performance of the public functions
shall be emitted from the assessment hereinafter to be made to cover the cost of said improvement.

12. Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent the
unpaid assessments and bear interest at the rate or not to exceed
four per cent (4~) per annum, will be issued pursuant to Part 4,
Bond Plan C ot Article IV of the Palo Alto Improvement Procedure
Code, the last installment or which shall matare nine (9) years
from the second day or July next succeeding ten months !'rom their da.te.
13. Except aa herein otherwise provided for the issuance
of bonds, all of the above proposed work shall be done in pursu-
ance of the provisions of Article V of said Palo Alto Improvement Procedu~e Code.
14. Proceedings have been had and taken by said Council in
full compliance with the prov1e1ons of Article 1 of 5aid Palo
Alto Improvement Procedure Code.
15. Notice ia hereby given that Monday, the 14th day or
May, 1951, at the hour· of 7:30 o'clock P. M. at the Council
Chambers, City Hall, P'alo Alto, California,, is hereby fixed as the
time and place when and where any and all persons havlng any
objections to the proposed improvements or against the district to
be assessed for the costs and expenaes thereof, or to the C1ty
Eng1ne&r'e estimate of the costs and expenses thereof, or against
the grades at which said work shall be done, or against the
diagram or assessment, may appear before the Council and show
cause why said proposed improvements should not be carried out in accordance with this Reeolution of Intention.
16. The City Clerk shall cause this Resolution of Intention
to be publ:1shed twice in the Palo Alto Times, a a.a117 newspaper
published and circulated 1n the City or Palo Alto .• which said
paper 1a hereby designated for that purpose, and which 1e hereby
designated as the newspaper 1n which all further notices required
to be made herein shall be published.
