WHEREAS, representatives of Cities and Counties within
Mntual Aid Region No. 3 of the Ca11forn1a Disaster Council did
pas.o a resolution on the 27th or September, 1950, setting forth cert~in plane and principles for the establishment of a Regional PLrnn1ng Board; and
WHEREAS, the Co11nci l of the City of Palo Al to ls des1rou:J or endorsing the principles set forth in sa1d resolution;
NOW, TID:REFORE, the Counci 1 of' the Ci t::l of Pa lo Al to DOES RESOLV'.:: :ls follows:
That the following pr1nc:1ples are hereby approved:
1. The Counties and Cities of Region No. 3 shall est~blish a Regional Planning Board, and
2. That t1:::tld Regional Planning Board shall plan~
w1th1n existing Fede~al and State civil defense
laws and policies, for the civil defense of said Region No. 3, and
3. That said Regional Planning Board, l=hen constituted
by the counties and cities of Region No. 3, shall
req~est the Governor cf the State of California to
appoint as a state empll'lyee a r~:ill-t1me regional
civil def•.mse staff officer, for the pu~·!)ose of
assisting the cities and counties within Region
No. 3 in the development and coordination or plans
and operations for civil defense wlthin said region.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution
be sent to the Governor of the State of Cal1~orn1a and to the
Area Representative of the State Disaster Council.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and passed bj the Council or the City of Palo Alto at
a regular meeting held on the 9th day of October, 1950, by the following vote:
AYES: Blois, Bolander, Bowden, Bower, Cashel, Cathcart, Freedman,
GClsper, H:t11, Linder, Mitchell, r~ontroull, Merten, Wickett.
