OP ASSESSMENT 1'0R STREET IMPROVEMENTS ON AI.ESTER AVENUE AND CHANNING AV.!NUE BY PAJJJ ALTO UNI.PIED SHCOOL DISTRICT EMBARCADERO ROAD, et al PROJECT NO. 50-5 ACQUISITION AND IMPROVEMENT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Palo Alto, Cal1-rorn1a, that WHEREAS, this Council has undertaken proceedings pursuant to Art1 e le V of. the Pa lo Al to Im~»."ovement Procedure Code for, among other things, the grading, removal of trees and existing structures, constructing or r'!construct1ng Portland Cement concrete curbs, gutter3, sidewalks, storm waterdra1n pipe and catch basins con1plete with cast iron frames and gratings, construct1ng crushed-· rock base pavement and aaphaltic concrete wearing surface, instal- ling electroliers complete w1th concrete bases and lumina1res and conduit and conductor cable~ and constructing vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewer services, copper p1pe water services and wrapped steel pipe gas services on Alester Avenue for 1t21 entire length and on the northerly one-half of Channir_g Avenue fronting OT" property o:f' the Palo Alto Unified School D!strict, and for assess- ing the cost thereof upon a dtr.atrict benefited thereby, which district and the exterior boundaries thereof are more particularly set forth in Resolution of Intention No. 2017 adopted by this Council on August 14, 1950, to which reference is hereby made for further particulars; VHEREAS, this Council caused to be prepared and prelimi- narily approved an r:issesament apportton1ng and spreading the costs thereof upon the properties benefited thereby wherein the parcel of land owned by the Palo Alto Unified School Dis·trict was assessed for $13 1 680.95, and said property 1s not in use for any public function; WHEREAS, following the opening of bids for said work, the increased cost occasioned by rise in electrical prices made it necessary to increase the amount of said aseessment to $16,497.87; WHEREAS, the amount of said assessment 1a the fair por- tion of the coat of said project in the same proportion a~ all other properties in said assessment district are assessed; WI-!ERJ~AS ~ the source of' revenue and persons interested 1n the use of said achool district property are greater in area than the exterior. boundaries of either the assessment district or the City of Palo Alto and may therefore be more equitably paid from :!'ur.ds of the District than by the property owners w1 thin said assessment district or from funds of said City; i ~ 1 j i .... !
