OF INTENTION TO MODIF'Y PRELIMINARY PROCEEDINGS

STREET LIGHTING RECONSTRUCTION

RESOLVED, by the Council of the C1ty of Palo Alto, California,
that the public convenience and necessity require and it is the
intention or the said Council to modlfy the preliminary proceeding~
under Resolution No. 1962 of Prel1m1nary Determination, adopted
March 13, 1950, as follows:
1. Delete from sa:l.d proceedings the :l.mprov1ng of Uni vers1 ty
Avenue from Cowper Street to Middlefield Road.
2. Modify the proposed improvement of' University Avenue
from Middlefield Road to Chaucer Street by eliminating th~ installa-
tion of Electrolters complete with appurtenances, fixtures and
undergroLmd conduit :-)nd cable, and substituting suspended and/or
mast-arm supported lt.Jminaires complete w1.th overhead wiring,
gi.1y strand, poles and appurtenant equipment and 1'ixtures.
3. Add the improving of University Avenue from Chaucer
St!'eet to the westerly line of Crescent Park Subdivision, Palo
Al to Avenue from Chaucer• Street to Marlowe Street, and Marlowe
Street rrom Palo Alto Avenue to University Avenu~ by the installa-
tion of susr..-'nded and/ol' mast-arm 19upported luminairea complete
with overhend wiring, guy strand, poles and appurtenant equipment
and fixtures.
4. Extend the boundaries of the aSS€:Bsment d1strj,ct to
inclu~e the consolidated and composite areas of all of the parcels or property fronting on said additional works, together with all
properties fronting on any street w1th1n one-half block of an
intersection which is being improved hereunder, and the exterior
boundaries of said district are hereby extended to include the
coterminous boundaries of said composlte and consolidated area.
The properties so benefited, and the boundaries thereof, are more
particularly shown on the map of said assessment d1strict on file
in the office of the City Eng:tneer, to wh1ch reference is hereby
made for a more detailed description thereof.
5. The work and proceedings hereby proposed to be ::ndertaken
are subject to all of the provisions of Resolution No. 1962 of
Prel1m1nary Determination, to which resolution reference ls made
for further particulars.
6. Notice is hereby given tha.t Monday, the 10th day of
July, 1950, at the hour of 7:30 o~clock P.M., at the Council
Chambers of the City Council in the City Hall, are hereby
fixed as the time and place when and where any and all persons
.tnterested. may appear and show cause .. if any they have, why the
City Council should not find and determine th<:tt the public con-
venience and necessity require the improvements described and
referred to j.n this resolution without further compliance with
the Special Assessment Investigation, Limitation and ~~jor1ty
Protest Act of 1931, as provided in Article I of the Palo Alto
Improvement Procedure Code.
7. The City Clerk shall give notice of the adoption of
this resolution by publishing a Notice or Mod~flcation of Notice
of Proposed Local Improvement once in the Palo Alto Times, a
daily newspaper publ1shed and circulated 1n said City and by
posting same on or r1ear the Council Chamber door, said posting
and publication to be at least ten days before the date of hearing.
