RESOLVED, by the Counc:ll of the Ci';y of Palo Alto,
Cal:l.forn1a, that 1t does hereuy preliminarily determine that
the public convenience and necessity require, and that 1t in-
tends to order the following acquisition to be had and improve-
ments to be made in and for said City~ to-wit:
l(a). The widening of Louis Road by acquiring an easement
five feet wi1e alone the Northeast side thereof "rrom Embarcadero
Road to Colorado Avenue and along the Southwest side thereof
from North California Avenue to Oregon Avenue and from Moreno
Avemie northwesterJ.y to the Reed Tract.
(b) The widening of Amarillo Avenue by acquiring an ease-
ment ten feet wide along each side thereof from Louis Road to Ore(~l" Road.
(c) The widening of Colorado Avenue by acquiring an ease-
ment ten feet wide along the southeast side thereof !rom Lcu1s
Road to Middlefield Road, and along the Northwest side thereof
from Middlefield Road to Colorado Park No. 1.
(d) The widening or Ross Road by acquiring an easement
ten feet wide on either side thereof from Colorado Avenue to
Seale-Wooster Canal.
(e) The acquisition of edd1t1onal eaeements at intersec-
tion corners to provide sidewalk returns.
2(a) The improving of Louis Road as proposed to be widen-
ed, for its full width from Colorado Avenue to North California
Avenue, nnd t1long the northeast half thence to Embarcadero
Read, by grad1.ne; and the construction therein of crusher-run
base pavement and asphaltic concrete wearing surface, Portland
cement concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks, electrol1er sys-
tem complete .. cement concrete pipe storm drains and catch bas-
ins complete w1tb cast iron frames and covers, and vitrified
clay pipe sewer laterals, copper pipe water service laterals,
and wrapped steel gas service J.aterals.
(b) The improvement of Amarillo Avenue as proposed to be
widened, fro.r. Louis Road to Greer Road, by grading and the con-
struction therein of crusher-run bnse pavement and asphaltic
concrete wearing surface, Portland cement concrete curbs, gut-
ters and sidewalks, electrolier system complete, cement concrete
pipe storm dralns and catch basins complete with cast iron
frames and cove1~s, and v:l.trified clay p:tpe :sewer laterals,
copper pipe water service laterals, and wrapped steel gas ser-vice laterals.
(c) The improvement of Colorado Avenue, as proposed to be
widened, from Louis Road. to Middlefield Road, by grading and the
construction therein of crusher-run base pavement and asphaltlc
concrete wearing surface, Portland cement concrete curbs, gutters
and sidewalks, electrolier system complete, cement concrete
pipe storm drains and catch basins c~mplete with cast iron frames
and covers, and vitrified clay pipe sewer laterals, copper p1pe
water service laterals, wrapped steel gas service laterals, and dr1veway aprons.
(d) The improving Of Ross Road, as proposed to be widen-
ed, from Color;'ld.o Avenue to Seale-Wooster C~na.l, by grading and

(e) The construction of all work auxiliary to the above
and which may be required to carry out same.
3. All of Eaid acquisition and improvements are to be
had and constructed at the places and in the particular loca-
tions, of the forms, sizes, d1mensione and materials, and to the
lines, grades, and elevations as shown and delineated upon the
plans, profiles, and specifications prepared therefor, and on
file in the office of the City Engineer in the City Hall of said
City, re:r~rence to which is hereby made for full and det:111ed
description of said proposed a.cqu1a1 ti on and improvement and.
for further particulars.
4. There is hereby excepted from the above work that
which 1s alrendy done to line and grade and marked excepted or
~hown not to be done on the plans, profiles and specifications.
5. The City Council does hereby adopt nnd establish as
the official grades for said work the grades and elevationa
.shown upon said plans, profiles, and spec1f1ce't1ons. All such
grades and elevations are in feet and decimals thereof in ref-
erence to the official base and datum of said City.
6. Notice is hereby given or the fact that 1n many cases
said work and improvement will bring the finished surface or the
improved streets to a grade different from the surface of ~uch
streets ~s they now exist, and that to said extent said grades
are hereby changed and ·that said work will be done to said
chanF~ed grades.
7. All of ::ia1d work shall be done under the supervision
of' the City Engineer of the City of Palo Alto, and all of said
work and materials shall be done and furnished to his satis-
:!"aet1or1.
8. Said con temp lated worl\, acqu1si ti on and improvements .:.re
of more than local or oruin~:ry p1,1blic benef1 t, and the cost and
expense of doing said work and the expenses incidental thereto,
shall be mad~ chargeable upon the district benefited thereby,
the boundaries of which are more particularly sho..,.,"n on the map
or said assessment district on file in the office of the City
Engineer of said City, to which reference is hereby made for a
more detailed description thereof.
9. Notice is hereby g:l.ven that serial bonds ~o represent
the unpaid assessments and bear interest at the rate of not to
exceed four per cent (4%) per annum, will te issued pursuant to
P.::trt ~-, Bond Plan C of Article T:V of the Palo Al to Improvement
Procedure Code, the last installment or which shall mature nine (9) years from the second day of July next succeeding ten months
fJ.·om their date.
10. Except ns herein otherwise provided for the 1sGu.:mce
of bonds, all or the above proposed work shall be done in pur-
suance of the provisions of: Article Y of' f~a.1d P.:ilo Al to Improve-
ment Procedure Code.
11. Notice is hereby given that Monday, the 13th day of

any they have, why the City Council should not f'1nd and determine
that the public convenience and necessity require the improve-
ments deJcribed and referred to in this resolution, wi thot:.t
further compliance with th~ Special Asaessment Investigation,
L.1m1 tat1on and Ma.Jori ty Protest Act of 1931.
12. The Clerk or the City of Palo Alto shall give notice
of the adoption of this resolution by publishing a Notice of
Proposed Local Improvement once in the Palo Alto Times, a daily
newspaper published and circulated in said City. and by posting
name on or near the Council Chamber door of said Council, said
posting an.d publication to be had at lea3t ten days before
sn1d date or hearing.

tion adopted by the City Council of the C1ty of Palo Alto,
California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 13th day
