RESOLUTION NO. 1782
OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION
PARK BOULEVARD, ET AL
PROJECT NO. 46-1
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Palo Alto,
California, that it does hereby preliminarily determine that
the public convenience and necessity require, and that it in-
tends to order the following work to be done and improvements
to be made in and for said City, to -wit:
1. That Page A1111 Road between El Camino Real ar,d the
Southern Pacific Railroad; First Street between Sheridan Avenue
and Pepper Avenue; Cambridge Avenue between Park Boulevard and
Yale Street; College Avenue, Oxford Avenue, Stanford Avenue, Leland
Avenue and Park Avenue between El Camino Real and Park Boulevard;
Park Boulevard between El Camino Real and California Avenue;
Caetilleja Avenue between Mariposa Avenue and Park Boulevard; Birch
Street between Park Boulevard and College Avenue; Ash Street be-
tween Park Avenue and College Avenue; Staunton Court between Oxford
Avenue and College Avenue; and Yale Street between Stanford Avenue
and California Avenue, be improved by conetructing therein vitrified
clay pipe sanitary sewer services, copper pipe water services, and
wrapped steel pipe gas services.
2. All of said work and improvements are to be constructed
at the places and in the particular locations, of the forms, sizes,
dimensions and materials, and to the lines, grades and elevations
as shown and delineated upon the plane, profilee and specifications
prepared therefor, and on file in the office of the City Engineer
in the City Hall of maid City, reference to which is hereby made
for full and detailed description of said proposed work and for fur-
ther particulars;
3. There is hereby excepted frog the above work that which
is already done to line and grade and marked excepted or shown not
to be done on the plans, profiles and specifications;
4. The City Council does hereby adopt and establish as
the official grades for said work the grades and elevations shown
upon said plane, profilee and specifications. All such grades and
elevations are in feet and decimals thereof in reference to the
official base and datum of said city;
5. All of said work shall be done under the supervision of
the City Engineer of the City of Palo Alto, and all of said work and
materiala shall be done and furnished to his satisfaction;
6. Said contemplated work and improvements and the cost and
expense of doing said work and the expenses incidental thereto shall
be made chargeable upon the abutting properties in Bald district
benefited thereby. The properties so benefited, and the boundaries
thereof, are more particularly shown on the map of said assessment
district on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City,
to which reference is hereby made for a more detailed description
thereof;
7. Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent
the unpaid assessments and bear interest at the rate of not to exceed

four per cent (4%) per annum, will be issued pursuant to Part 4,
Bond Plan C of Article IV of the Palo Alto /mproveAent Procedure
Code, the last installment of which shall mature nine (9) years
from the.second day of July next succeeding ten months from
their date;
8. Except as herein otherwise provided for the issuance
of bonds, all of the above proposed work shall be done in pursuance
of the provisions of Article V of said Palo Alto Improvement
Procedure Code;
9. Notice is hereby given that Monday, the 29th day of
November, 1948, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M. at the Council
Chambers of the City Council of said City in the City Hall of
said City are hereby fixed as the time and place when and where any
and all persons interested may appear and show cause, if any they
have, why the City Council should not find and determine that the
public convenience and necessity require the improvements ]eecribed
and referred to in this resolution, without further compliance with
the Special Assessment Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest'
Act of 1931;
10. The Clerk of the City of Palo Alto shall give notice
of the adoption of this resolution by publishing a Notice of
Proposed Local Improvement once in the Palo Alto Times, a daily
newspaper published and circulated in said City, and by posting
same on or near the Council Chamber door of said Council, said post-
ing and publication to be had at least ten days before said date
of hearing.
I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true copy of
resolution adopted by the City Council of the City of Palo Alto,
California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 8th day of
November, 1948, by the following vote of the members thereof:
AYES, and in favor thereof, Councilmen:
Blois, Bowden, Cashel, Gaspar, Hill, Linder, Merner,
Montrouil, Morten, Thoita, Wickett.
NOES, Councilmen: None.
ABSENT, Councilmen: Bentrott, Bolander, Mitchell.
NOT VOTING, Councilmen: Freedman.
