RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION
TO SUBMIT THE ':,UESTION OF THE ANNEXATION OF THE
BARRON PARK SUBDIVISION AND ADJACENT TERRITORY TO
THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
WHEREAS, a petition in writing has been received by the
Council of the City of Palo Alto, being the legislative body
thereof, asking that the territory described therein be annexed
to the City of Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, it appears from the certificate of the City
Clerk attached to such petition that the same is signed by one-
fourth and more in number cf the qualified electors residing
within the territory described therein as shown by the registra-
tion of voters in the County of Santa Clara; and
WHEREAS, prior to the circulation of the above mentioned
petition the Council of the City of Palo Alto passed a resolution
authorizing petitioners to circulate the said petition and peti-
tioners thereafter published a notice of intention to circulate
the same as prescribed by the Annexation Act of 1913 of the State
of California, as amended to date;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Pale Alto
LO RESOLVE as follows:
Section 1. That it is here'v found and determined that
the petition asking 0;lat the territory hereinafter described be
annexed to the City of Palo Alto 13 signed by one-fourth and more
of the qualified electors residing within the territory described
in said petition and hereafter set forth as shown by the registra-
tion of voters of the County of Santa Clara.
Section 2. That the boundaries of the territory so pro-
posed to he annexed to the City of Palo Alto are ax follows, to -wit:

Section 3. That the name or words of identification,
by which said territory may be referred to or indicated upon
the ballot to be used at the election at which the question of
annexation is submitted are hereby designated as 'BARRON PARE
SUBDIVISION AND ADJACENT TERRITORY.'
Section 4. That it is the intention of the Council of
the City of Palo Alto to call a special election and aubmit to
the electors residing in the territory proposed by ouch peti-
tion to be annexed to the City of Palo Plto the question of
whether such territory shall be annexed to, incorporated in
and made a part of the City of Palo Alto, on Tuesday, the 16th
day of November, 1948.
Section 5. Notice is hereby given that any person own-
ing real property within such territory so proposed to be
annexed and having any objection to the proposed annexation,
may at any time not later than the hour herein set for the hear-
ing, make written protest against the proposed annexation and
may appear before the City Council of the City of Palo Alto in
the Council Chamber in the City Hall of said city, on MONDAY,
the llth day of October, 1948, at the hour of 7:30 P.M., and
show cause why said territory should not be so annexed.
Section 6. That the proceedings for said annexation
shall be had and conducted pursuant to an act of the Legislature
of the State of California entitled "An act to provi:e :or the
alteration of the boundaries of and for the annexation of terri-
tory to municipal corporation, for the incorporation of such
annexed territory in and as a part thereof, and for the district-
ing, government and municipal control of such annexed territory,"
approved June 11, 1913, and all acts amendatory thereto.
Section 7. Reference la hereby made to said petition
on file in the office of the City Clo-k of the City of Palo Alto
for details as to the bonded indebteuaeas of said city, incurred
or authorized, outstanding on the date of the filing of said
petition, tor which the territory so proposed to be annexed to
said city will be subject to taxation in the event of annexation.
Section 8. The City Clerk shall cause a copy of this
resolution to he published once a week for two successive weeks
prior to the hearing, in the Palo Alto Times, a newspaper of
general circulation, there being no newspaper of general cir-
culation :n the territory proposed to be annexed.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and passed at a regular meeting of the Council of the
City of Palo Alto held on Monday, the 13th day of 3optember, 1948,
by the following vote:
Bentrott, Blois, 3olander, Bowden, Cashel, Gaspar, Linder,
Merner, Montrou'1, Morten, Thoits, Wickett.
