WHEREAS~ an emergency exists aa a reault ot the
World War 1 wherein trom time to time, city employees may
be called or may coluntaril;r enter the armed forces ot
the United States, and,
Wl~S it ia the 1ntent1on of the City Council
or the City of P~io Alto to aaeure all or its employeee
vho leave the service or tha city to enter the ar.med force3,
that upon discharge from said armed forces they may return
to their former employment with the C1.ty of Palo Alto;
NOV, Tl~ORE, the City Council of the City of Palo Alto DO RESOLVE aa follows:
That any employee or the City of Palo Alto, over
whom the Council haa juria<11c·tion as to his or her employment
and compensation, who enters the arued forces or merchant
marine of the Unit~d States, including all branches thereof,
shall be given a leave or absence, ~itho~t pay, from the
service or the City ot Palo Alto, and upon hie or her discharge
from said armed forces or merchant maru1e, such employe~,
·upon application, it such application ia wade within thirty
days of his or her discharge, shall be re-employed as an employee or the City~
The above and foregoing resolution vas duly and
regularly introduced and paaaed at a regular meeting or the
Council or the City or Palo Alto held on Monday; February 8,
1943, by the folloving vote:
