FOR THE CLOSIHO OF PORTIOJS OF PIRST STREIT
AND ACACIA AVENUE,. Ill THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
The Council ot the City of Palo Alto DO RESOLVE as follows~
Section l~ That it ia the intention ot the Council or
the City ot Palo Alto to order the tol.loving vork and improve-
ment to be done in said city:
(1) That the following portim1 ot Acacia Avenue
1n the city or Palo Alto, southerly from Firat
Street, and more particularly described aa follow&,
to vit:
That portion of Acacia Avenue (formerly known
aa Forest Avenue), as shown and delineated on that
certai.n Map entitled: •Map 'No~ 2 or the Sunnyside
Addition,• recorded 1n Book Lor Mapa, at page 12
on December 19, 1905, recorda or Santa Clara County,
California, and more particularly deaci'ibed as
tollowa:
Commencing at the point or intersection or
the southeasterly line ot Acacia Av~nue v1th the
prolongation of the southwesterly line or Ftrst
Street; thence from said point or beginning ~outh
weate~l1 along the &aid southeasterly line or
Acacia Avenue s distance of 87.15 teet; thence
at right angles nortbvesterl,-running parallel to
the southwesterly line or Firat Street a distance
ot 60.00 teet to the northwesterly line or Acacia
Avenue; thence at right angles northeasterly
along aaid northwesterly line or Acacia Avenue a
distance of 87.15 teet to the southweate~ly line
ot Firat Street; thence aoutheaaterl7 along aa1d
prolongation of the southwesterly line or Firat
St~eet a distance of 60.00 teet to the point or
beginning; be closed and abandoned.
(2) That the portion otPFirat Street between Olive
Avenue and the Southern acific Right or Way in the
City ot Palo Alto# and more particularly described
as follows, to wit:
All that portion ot Firat Street extending from
the southeasterly line or Olive Avenue, (formerly
known aa Palm Avenue), and lyL~ between Blocks 3 and 5, as Bhovn and delineated on that eertain Map
entitled: ~sunnyside Add1tionw and recorded 1n Book
K or Mapa at page 47 on February 16, 1905# Recorda
or Santa Clara County~ California;

(3) That that portion or Firat St~eet botveen the
Southern Pacific Right of Way and Portage Avenue
1n the City of Palo Alto, more particularly des-

All of that certain 17.45 feet reserve e~

Section 2. That 1.n the op1rt1on of sa.1d Council no assess-
ment 1s neee~sary for this proeeeding.
Section 3. 3aJ.d work ar•d improvement 1s to be had and taken
pursuant t.o the-provisions of Article 2 or Ordinance 72'2 of· the
City or Palo Alto commonly known and designated as the Palo Alto
l.!nl'rovement Procedure Code, :m1d ordinance having been ad.opted by
the Counc:1.~ of the Ct ty ot' Palo Alto on September 13, 1937.
Section 4. For a more particulal" description or the work to
be done hereunder reference is hereby ma.de to that certain map or
plat on file with the 3u:pertntendent of Streets of the City of Palo
Alto and entitled "Plan of the closing or portion~ or First Street
and Acac:f.l\ Avenue" prepared ].'!.arch 7, 1942, by L. H. Anderson,
Street Superintendent and City Engineer.
Section 5. Notice 1s hereby given that Mondey,the 13th day
of April, 1942, at the hour or 7:30 P.Ioi. Rt the Council Chambers
ot the City Co~~cil of said city, in the City Hall, Palo Alto,
Ca.l1forn1s, be Hnd the same :ta hereby set as the day, hour and
place where and when any and all persons having any objections to
the proposed vorlc or improvement~ may appear before said councj.l
and show cause vhy said propo~ed work should not be carried out in
aecor1ance with this resolution.
Section 6. ~~he Da.1ly Pal.o Alto Times, a dfJ.ily nevspaper
published and circulated in the City or Palo Alto, of general c1r-
cule.t1on1 it~ hereby desi~,nated as the newspaper in which the City
Clerk or the City of Palo Alto shall cause to be published in the
ma.flner and form required by law, a copy of this Resolution of In-
tention, by causing same to 'be published twice in said newspaper
prior to the date of the hearing of objections to the propo3ed
work and imp~ovement.
Section 7. Tl'le Superintendent of Streets of sP.id City shall
cause to be conspicuously posted on one side of each etreet between
each two 1n~ersect1ng streets, along the line of said contemplatP.d
"WOrk and improvement, not.1ces of the passage of this rcsolu.tion of
intention in the time, manner nnd form prescribed by law.
The above and. fore~oing resolut1.on -was duly and regularly
1ntrod~ced. s.nd passed at e. regu.la.r meetinz of the Council of ti'le
City or Palo Alto, held on the 9th day of March, 19421 by the
followine vote:
