That it 1a the intention o:r tbe Council or the City ot Palo
Alto to order the following work and improvement to be done 1n said city, to-wit1
Section 1. (l) That that portion or Rose Avenue between
Lambert Avenue and Third Street 1n the City or Palo
Al·to, be closed and abandoned.
(2) That that portion or Portage Avenue be-
tween First Street and Third Street 1n the City ot
Palo Alto, be closed and abandoned.
(3) That that po~t1on ot Second Street be-
tween Lambert Avenue and Portage Avenue in the
City ot Pal.o Alto,. be cloeed and abandoned.

Section 2. That in the op1n1on of eaid Council no assessment is neoeaaary for this proceeding.
Section 3. Said work and improvement is to be had and taken
pursuant to the provia1ona of Article 2 of Ordinance 722 of the
City ot .. Palo .Alto commonly known and designated aa the Palo Alto
Improvement ProcedUre Code, said ordinance having been adopted
by the Council of the City ot Palo Alto on September l3, 1937.
Section 4. For a particular description or the work to be
done hereunder reference 1s hereby made to that oertatn map or
plat on file with the Superintendent of Streete of the City or
Palo Alto and entitled •Plan ?t the closing or Portage Avenue,
Second Street and Roae Avenue• prepared April,. 194.0, by J. F. Byxbeo, Str~et Superintendent.
Section 6. Notice 1e hereby given that Monday, the lOth
day or Juno, 1940 at the hour or 7s30 P.M. at the Council
Chambers or the City Council o! said City, in the City ~all,
Palo Alto, California, be and the same ia hereby set as the day,
hour nnd plaoe where and when aey and all person• having any
objection& to the proposed work or improvement, may appear before
said council and show cause why aaid proposed work ahould not be
carried out 1n accordance with this resolution.
Section 6. Tl'ie Pa1ly Palo Alto Times a daily newspaper
published and circulated in the City of Palo Alto, or general oiroulation~ ia hereby designated as the newaparer 1n whiCh tbe
City Clerk or the City ot Palo Alto ahall cause to be published
in the manner and form required by law, a oopy or thia Resolution
of Intention, by causing same to be published twioe in aaid news
paper prior to the date of the hearins or objeotiona to the pro-posed work and improvement.
Section 7. ~e Superintendent or Streets of aaid City aball
oauae to be conspicuously posted on one aide or eacn street be-
tween eaCh two intersecting street3, along the line or said con-
templated work and improvement, notices of the passage of th1a
resolution of intention in the time, manner and tor.m prescribed by law.
