WHEREAS, improvement of 1nter-eounty transportation has been the consideration ot a great number of cit1~ens, both public and private, tor many yeara; and, WHEREAS, numerous plans !or tne improvement of c~ muting facilitie~, including highway, railroad, and street oar transportation have been previously suggeeted and have been shelved not because of lack or merit, but becauoe of lack or coordinated interest and lack or community organization; and, WHEREAS, 1t 1s believed improvements in rapid transit ~ac1lit1es may be 1rnrned1ately procured through adjustment at present facil1tie~ creating greater efficiency without prohi~tive cost for the benefit of the Peninsula; and, WHEREAS, it has been h1~ly reco~ended and deemed vitally important that a complet~ foundation survey with appropriate plane be made for the ultimate soluti~n of traffic problems to and frcxn San Francis eo at'ld the Peninsula to be coordinated with proposed future construction of increased traffic fac111tios within the City of San Francisco; en t-' = ..... ~ ~ -.1 ,. NOW, 1'HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the I City of Palo Alto, that it 1s the ccn.semms of t:t-.is meeting . .1 that the permanent inter-county transportation improvement eo~1ttees appointed by the respective governing boards of the City and Co~ty of San Francis~o and s~n Mateo County commence an immedis.te study of the 1:1'provernent o; transportation fac111t:tes, and that funds should be provided by each .:-:overning tody for this purpose. BE I·r FURTHER RESOLVI!."D that it ie the rec0l'l'.rrendat1on of this Council that the Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County immediately appo1nt a trans-portat10'n. com1r.i ttee to collabo- rate with the committees of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties. BE IT FURTHER RESOL~JD that copies of this resolution be sent to the Supervisors of SantaClara County, the Supervi~ors of the City and County of s.., Francisco, the San Francisco Cha~ber of Commerce, and all chambers of commerce, improvement clubs and civic bodies 1n San hiateo County and the ncrthern portion of Santa Clara County.
