ENDORSING THE INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL .AllENDl«EN1' PROVIDING
FOR THX REPEAL OF SECTION 22 OF ARTICLE XX OF THE CONSTITUTION
OF THE STATE OF CALU'ORNIA AND ADDING tmCTIOI 2~ TO .lRTICLX XX
OF SAID CONSTITUTION PROVIDING FOR LOCAL LIQUOR CONTROLe
WHEREAS, the people ot the C1ty of Palo Alto, on Auguat lv, 1933, a:t a apeoial 11N111c1pal election called tor tlM pur-
poae, did, by their vote, retuae ·to t~nact amendments to the
Charter of the City of F·alo Alto and the ordinances of said
cit7, by WhiCh amendment• it ••• propoaed that liquor contain-
ing not more than 3.2~ of alcOhol by •olume could be eold
within the lim1ta of the City cf Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council that a majority of the people of th~ City of Palo Alto object to the
sale of any alcoholic be•eragea within the limite ot said city;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT R:ESOLV!W b7 the Council of the
City of Palo Alto that said Council doea hereby endorae the
following Constitutional Amendments wb1ch will bring about
local liquor control in the State ot California, to-wit:
the repeal of Section 22 or Article XX of t~ Constitution
ot the State or C~liforn1a whidh said section providee for
state control, and the addition to Article XX of Section 29
whiab in ei!ect provides for local liquor control.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regulaJ•-
ly introduced and passed at a regular meeting of the Council
of the C:tty or Palo Alto held on Monday, July 11, 1938, by tl e following votes
