'HOW, 'Dll!:RIJORE, it ia hereby found, determined
and declared that a petition, which ha• been eigned by more
than fifteen per oentum of the qualified eleotore of said
City computed upon the total number of votes oaet therein
for all candidates for governor at the last preceding
election, has been filed with the leg1•lat1Te body of said
City, requesting said legislative body, known and designated
aa the City Council of the City of Palo Alto, to eubmit to
tho electors of eaid City the proposition to acquire by
purchase a block of land within eaid City for a city park
at an election to be called and held a• provided by or-
dinancc of aaid Council. The aaid proposition to be so
eubmitted at said election being the eame proposition aa
was submitted at the election held on the 27th day of May,
1919; and

public necessity demand certain public municipal improve-
ments and land therefor for eaid City of Palo Alto, to wit:
the acquisition by purcha•e of a blook of land for a park
for as.id City;
Which public interest appears and which necea ..

within aaid city. Witb the growth of the City the dr.and

coat of the acquiaition or a block ot land tor a city park

Whereas aa14 eum of ten thoueand clollare fer
the acqui•ition or a block ot land for a city park 1•
round and hereby declared to b• an amount too great to be
paid out o! the ordinary annual income and revenue or 9&1d
City;
Ste. 3, NOW, THEREFORI, 'tho Council of the Cit;y
of Palo Alto, being the legislative branch ot ea1d city
and municipality, does hereby, by tbia resolution, t1n4
that all the foregoing recitals of fact• are true, and it
doee hereby determine ·that the public intereut and the
public neceeai ty demand the acquh 1 ti on by purchase of a
block or land for a public park for said City; and
It is further found and determined that the to-
sum necessary for the aoquisi ti on by purchase of a tract
of land for a public park tor aaid City to be located
within the City is the sum of ten thou.sud dollars, which
cost is and will be too great to be paid out or the ordinary
annual inccme arnd reTenue of aaid City, and
Said Council does hereby further determine that
all necessary and proper proceedings be a~d the same •hall
be taken aa provided by the laws or the St.ate of Calitomia
for the purpose and to the end to the acquiaition by pur•
ohawe of a block of land tor a public park within aa14
City, and tor thie purpose to au'blllit the que•tion or incur-
