OF CALIFORNIA, on DECEMBER 16. 1947, UPON THE
QUE3'l'ION OF INCURRING THE BONDED INDEBTEDmtsS OF SAID

'WHERZAS, on the 24th day Of November, 1947, the Council of
the City of Palo Alto, County of Santa Cla:ra, State of Cal1rorn1a,
by oro1nance duly passed ana published, did call a special election
tc: be held 1n said city on the 16th Clay or Deoembe:r, 1947, ~er the
purpo~e or submitting to the qua.11f1ed votere or ea1d c1ty the pro-
positions: ·~~hall the City or Palo Alto incur a bon1ed indebteC!ness
in the principal amount of $300,000.00 for the cbject an,1 purpoee
or acquirillg, cons truct1ng and completing the following munic1pa l
improvement, to v1t: the acquisition, construot1on a°' completion
of 1.m.provements to the City Hall, including add1t1one, betterm~nte
anc1 rem0del1ng of th~ present City Hall Building, together v1th
an ad~1t1on thereto, to be designated al!l the City Hall AnneJ( 1 1n-
c1Ud1ng furnishing&, fixtures, equipment and other work8, property
or structures n~ces~ary or convenient ror City Hall purposes.•

pt1nc1pal amount or $125,000.00, tor the object and purpose or ae-
qu11"1n,g, constructing aru completing the rolloving municipal im-
provement, to wit: the acqu1a1t1on, construction, reconstruction

City of Palo Alto, the construction arx'I reconstruction of a fire
alarm system for eaid city and other works, property or ~tructu~s

given es required by la\? and by said oro1nance; and
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of December, 1947, at the hour of
seven o•clock 1n the morning or said day, the polla vere duly a~
regularly open.ed for said spec1al election in ea1d c1t:y, and sai\1
polls were continuoualy kept open for said purpose from the time
they were so opened until seven O'Clock in the afternoon of said
day, and during ea1d hours or said 16th day or December, 1947, a
special election wae hel~ in said City of Palo Alto, on said pro-
position.ei, aoo in accordance with sa1C! ordinance; ant'.!
WHEREAS, 1mmed1ately thereafter said special election vas
regularly and dul1 canvassed by the duly constituted officers by
law appointed for that purpose, e1Xf the result of said election ~as
thereafter made and delivered to the Council or said city, as by

WHEREAS, thereatter, to v1t: on the 17th da1 of December, 1947, st the hour of 7:30 o•cloc~ 1n the evening of sa1C! day, the
said Council did, at the place required by lav am by said ord1mnce,
duly convene and proceed to aDC5 did car:vass said returns of
sa1d special elect!, ;i so held &5 aroreeaid, and did thereupon de-
clare the result of said special election as tollovs, to v1t:
That the number of votes given and cast at said special election vas 2238.
That the total number of votee given and cast at said elec-
tion upon P:ropoa1t1on No .. l was 2232 votee, of vhi.ch total number
of vote~ so giv&n a~ cast, there vere given and cazt 1300 votes
in favor of said proposition and 932 votes againat said proposition;
