WHEREAS, Section 1599.l or the Military a~ Veterans Code,
Chapter 104, Stetutes 1946, let E~traord1nary Seesion, provides;
-The California State Disaster Counc1l~all
establish by rule and regulation various
classes of disaster service workers and the
ecope of the duties ot ea.ch claaa. The Calif-
ornia State Disaster Council :;,hall also adopt
rules and regulat1on.e prescribing the manner
1n vh1ch disaster service workers of ~e.ch cl3ss
ere to be registered. All such rules a~ regu-
latiorus shall be des1glled to facilitate the pay-
ing or workmen•s compensation•, and
'WHEREAS, the California State Disaster Council on April 4,
1946, adopted rules and regulations establishing classes of dis-
aster service workers, the scope of ~ut1ea or each clese anCJ the
manner of registration of &uch volunteer workers; and
'WHEREAS, Section 1599.2 or the Military and Veterans Code,
Chapter 104, Statutes 1946, lst E~traordinary Session, provides:
~Any ~isaster council wh1ch both agrees to follow
. the rules and regulatioll!I established by the
California State Disaster Coun~11 pursuant to
the provisions or Section 1599.l or this code
and substantially complies with ~uch rules ani:2
regulations shall be certified by the Cal1forn1q
State Disaster Council. Upon making such cert1t1-
cat1on, and not before, the disaster Council
becomes an accredited disaster council•, an1
WHEREAS, The City of Palo Alto has registered and will
hereafter register volunteer Disaster Service Workers, and
WHEREAS the City of Pelo Alto desires to become an
•accr~d1ted D1ea9ter Ccunc11• organization 1n order that injured
Pisaster Service Workers regtetered with it may beneflt by tbe
provisions or Chapter 104, Statutes 1946, lat Extraordin.e.ry

NOW, TKBRl~FORE,, the C1t1 Council of the City of Palo Alto
herebJ agree to ~rollow the rules aoo regulat1oD.S established by
the C&l1forn1a State Disaster Council under date ot April 4, 1946, pursuant to the prov1s1oD!I of Section 1599.l ot the
M111 tary and Vet.1ere.ns Code, Chapter 104 1 Statutes 1946, 1st

The City Clerk is hereby 1Il3truoted to send two certi-
fied c~p1es hereof to the California State Disaster Council.
The abo'le and foregoing resolution 'Was duly and regularly
passed by the Council of the City or Palo Alto at a regular
