25, 1946, UPON THE Q.UES1XION OF INCURRnlG CERTAIN BONDED INDEBTED-
NESS IN SAID CITY FOR THE OBJECTS AND PURPOSES HEREINAFTER

WHEREAS on the 27th day of May, 1946, the Council of
the C1.ty of.' Palo Aito, County of Santa Clara, State or Cal1forn1a,
by ordinance duly passed and published, did call a special elec-
tion to b~ hel" 1.n 8Bid city on the 25th day of June, 1946, for
the .rur·pose of ~ubmi tting to the ous.11.f'1ed voters of said city

the Electric Distribution System or the City of
Pa.lo Alto .• including condu1ta, cables, and other

erty or structu1•es necessary c.1r convenient ror the
electric distribution 3ystem of the City of Palo Alto?
'WHEREAS, due and legal notice of said special election
W8e given as requ.1red by lav and by said ordinance; and
'WHEREAS, on the 25th dey of June, 1946, at the hour
of 7:00 0 1clock in the morning of eaid day, the polls were duly
opened for said special electlon, ancs said polls wore contin-
uously kept open for sa1~ purpose from the t1me they vere eo
opened W1t11 7:00 o•clock in the evening of said ~ay, and during sai~ hours a special election V88 hel~ on eeid propositions and
1n accordance vith said ordinance; and
WHEREAS, thereafter said special election. was duly
and regularly canvaued by the duly constituted Officers, by
lav appointed for said purpose, and the result of ea1d election
was thereafter made and delivered to the Council or said city as
by law and by said ordinance required; and
'WHEREAS, thereafter, to wit: on the 28th day of June,
1946, at the hour of 7:30 :£>. M., the Council did, at the place
required by lev and by said ordinance, duly convene and proceed
to &nd ~id canvass said returns of said special election held
as aforesaid, and did thereu~on declare the result of same as roll owe , tc wit :
That the total number or votes given end cast at
said special election was ~ votes.
(a) That the total number of votes given and cast
at said special election upon Proposition #1 was 2848
votes, of which number there were~ votes in r'BV'OF
of said proposition and 615 votes against said propo-sition. ---
(b) That the total nun.ber of votes given and cast
at said special election upon Propo!lition #2 vas 2844
votes, of which number ther-e were 2142 votes in favor
of said proposition and 702 votes against aaid propo-sition. -----
( c) That the total number oi· votes g1 ven and cast
at aa1d special election upon Proposition 13 was ~
votes, of which number there were 2144 votes in favor
of said proposition and 689 votet:¥ againet said propo-

(d) That the total number of votes given and cast
at said special election upon Proposition #4 vas 2816
votes, of which number there wer~ 212f votes 1n f'8'V'"Or

at said special election upon Proposition /15 was 2814
votes, of which number there vere 2098 votes 1n favor

WHEREAS, in order to .authorize the incurring of 1n-~ebtedneas and the issuance of bonds thareror upon any propo-
a1t1on submitted at any special election called and held for
that purpose there must be given and cast for and in favor or
said proposition ao aubm1tt~d and voted upon~ the votea or at
lee.st tvo-thirds of all voters voting on each or sa1d ,?ropo-
s1t1ons at ae1d special election;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
{1) That a special election vas duly and regularly
callerl ~ held in all things according to the ordinance of the
City or Palo Alto duly adopted for the objects and purposes therein
apecif1ed, and according to the lava of the State of California.
(2) That ·che total votes g1ven e.nd 'caet at sa1<3
special election vere duly and regularly canvassed e.n6 found to
be ~ votes.
(3) That the total number of votes given .and cast at
said special election upon Proposition #1 for the objects and
purposes therein stated, was 2848 votes, or which total number
or votes there were given and-ciit 2233 votes in favor or said
proposition and 615 vot~e against iiiTcl' proposition, and that
said proposition-nii received th~ requisite two-thirds votes of
all votes given and cast at said election upon said.,Prppoe.itio!l
and the issuan~e of bonds of eaid city for said proposition, for
the objects and purposes therein stated, is authorized by eaid election.
(4) That the total number or votes given and cast et
said special election upon Proposition #2 for the objects and
_purposes therein stated, was l.:'844 vo'tes, of which total number
of votes there were given and-ca:it ~ votes in favor of said
proposition and 702 votes against said proposition, and that
said propos1t1on-nBs received the requisite two-thirds votes or
all votes given and cast at said election upon said proposition,
and the issuance or bonds of said city for said proposition, ror
the objects and purposes th.ez·ein stated, 1s authorize(] by said ~lection. ·
(5) That the total number of votes g1ven and c&at at
o&1d special election upon Proposition #3 for the objects and
purposes therein state~ was §--8~ votea4 of which total number
of votes there were given an ca.st 214 votee in favor of said
proposition and 689 votes against serer-proposition, and that
said propositionlias received the requisite tvo-thircls votea of

and the issuance of bonds of said city for said proposition, for
the objects and purposes therein stated, is authorized by said
election.

said special election upon Proposition #4 for the objects and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that bonds of the City or ?alo Alto shall be 1asued ae follows:
(a} In the eum of $175,000.00 for additions and
improvement5 to the Sanitary Sflvage System or the
City or Palo Alto, including additions and im-
provements to the seve.ge treatment plant, 1nste.ll-
a.t1on or trunk, outfall and other sewers, together
with pipes, culverts, connecting lines, cstch
basins, raach1nery, equipment, apparatus aoo other
'Works, property or structures neceaeary or con-
venient for sanitary sevage disposal.

necessary or convenient for improving the municipal
v&ter syste~ of the City of Palo Alto.
(d) In the a.un of $40,000.00 f'or a~d1t1ons and im-
provements to the Gae Distribution System of the
City of Palo Alto, including pipes, conduits aru3
other facilities, '-~quipment and appliances, works,
pr(1perty or structures necessary or convenient t'or
th~ gas distribution eystem of the City of P8lo Alt~.
(e) In the sum of $110,000.00 for additions and
improvements to the Electric Distribution System of
the C:ity of Palo Alto, 1.ncluding conduits, cables,
and ct.her fac111 ties, e,ulpment and appliances, wor·ks .1
property or structures necessary or convenient for
the electric distribution system of the City or Pelo Alto.
The above sna foregoing resolution 'lll&l!I duly passed by
the Council of the City of Palo Alto at en adjourned regular
meet1ng neld on the 28th day or June, 1946, by the following vote:
AYES: Beene, Bentrott, Blois, Bolander, Bovden, Cashel,
Cornish, Linder, Merner, Mitchell, Morten, Tho1ts.
NOES: None.
ABSENr: Freedman, Richards, Thomas.
