INITIATING PROCEEDINGS TO ANNEX TO SAID CITY. Clll1'AI8
UNINHABITED TEIR.ITORY DESCRIBED HIIUWl AND DESIGNATED
"AI.& STREET ANNEXAnON" AHD GIVING NOTICE 01r THE
PROPOSED ANNEXATION
The Council of the City of Palo Alto doea RISOLVE as fellows:
SECTION 1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation
of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, proceedings are hereby
initiated by the Council of the City of Pale Alto, on its own
motion, to annex to the City of Palo Alto all that uninhabited
t e1·ritory situate in the Cotm.ty of S<:.tnta Clara, State of California,
hereby designated as "Alma Street Ann~xation," and more fully
described in EXHIBIT A attached hereto and made a part hereof
and delineated on the map attached hereto marked EXHIBIT B and
made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. That the Council's reasons for proposing to
initiate the annexation of said uninhabited territory to the Ctty
of Palo Alto are as follows: Said annexation consists entirely
of fifty {50) feet of width of Alma Street, which has a total width
of eighty {80) feet, thirty '(30) feet of which are already in the
City of Palo Alto. Annexation of the balance of the street will
provide uniform control of traffic, street layout and maintenance.
SECTION 3. That the County Boundary Commission of Santa Clara
County, California, did in session duly assembled on July 6, 1~65,
approve the proposed boundaries of said "Alma Street Annexation"
as above described, and as submitted to said Commission by the
Council of the City of Palo Alto.
SECTION 4. That the Santa Clara County Local Agency Formation
Commission did in session d~ly assembled on August 3, 1965 approve
said proposed annexation in the manner provided by law.

SECIISI 5. That Monday, October 25, 1965, at the hour of
7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambe~ in the City Hall in the City of
Palo Alto, County of Santa Clara, California, is hereby fixed as
the time and place when and where any person owning. real property
within the uninhabited territory above. dsscribed and proposed to
be annexed to the City of Palo Alto, and having any objections to
the proposed annexation .• may appear before the Council of the City
of Palo Alto and show c.nuse why such uninhabited territory should
not be so attnexed to said City of Palo Alto. Such protest must be
in writi'ng, may be filed at any time prior to final adjournment of
the hearing on protests to the proposed annexation, and shall state
the name or names of the owner or owners of property affected, and
the street address ot other descripticm of the property sufficient
to identify it on the last equalized assessment roll.
SECTION ~· The City Clerk of the City of Palo Alto is hereby
authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be
published at least twice, but not oftener than on~e a week, in
the PALO ALTO TIMES, a newspaper of gP.neral c:l.rculation published
in said City of Palo Alto, the City to which it is proposed to
annex the aforesaid territory, and also in the SAN JOSE MERCURY,
a newspaper of general circulation published outside the City
of Palo Alto, but in the County of Santa Clara, California, the
county in which is located the territory ptoposed to be annexed
to the City of Palo Alto, said publication to be complete at least
twenty (20) days prior to the date set for hearing.
~ECTION 7. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed
to cs.use written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed
to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be
annexed is assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll
available on the date the above said proceed.ings were ini':iated,

Clerk, and to any person who bas filed his name and address and

the proposed annexation.
SECTJON 8. The City Clerk is directed to cause written
notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed eo the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara~ auch notice to be given
not less than twenty (20) days before the first public hearing
on the proposed annexation.
SECTION 9. 'nle City Clerk is directed to cause written
notice to be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled
thereto, in the mam;.er required by law.

All that certain real property lituated in the County of Santa Clara,
State of CaHfornia, and bounded by the followine duc:ribed line:
Beainning at the point of intcreection of the Northeaeterly line of
Alma Street, 50 feet wide, aa shown upon a map entitled, "Map of the
J. J. Morris Real Estate Co. 's Subdivision of the M. 5, Louck• Tract,"
a n1ap of which waa recorded April 30, 1906 in Book "L'' of Map•, at
page 35, Recorda of eaid County, said Northeaeterly line being abo a
corporate limite line of the City of Palo Alto aa e1tabliahed by that cer-
tain San Antonio Annexation, approved by the City Council of the City of
Palo Alto on January 1.2, 1951, by Ordinance No. 1317, with the South~
easterly line of that certain "El Camino Real Annexation No. 1" approved
by the City Council of the City of Palo J!.l:to on December Z7, 1954, by
Ordinance No. 1578, said point of intenection being abo an angle point
in the corporate limits line of the City of Palo Alto; thence S. 51° 30 1
E. along the corporate lirnits line of the City of Palo Alto 2535 feet,
more or less, to a point of intersection thereof with the c<~rporate limits
line of the City of Moun:ain View; thence southwesterly along the corpor-
ate limits line of the City of Mountain View 50 feet, more or less, to a
point in the Northeasterly line of the Southern Pacifi<: Railroad Company's
right of way, said right of way line being ah!o a corporate limits line of
the City of Mountain View; thence northwesterly along said right of way
line 2510 feet, more or less, to a point in the Southeast.erly line of said
El Camino Real Annexation No. 1: thence northeasterly along said South-
easterly lin.!! to the point of beginning, being a portion of Alma Street,
containing 2. 895 acres, more or leas.
