RESOLUTION NO. 3817
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PAW
ALTO URGING PASSAGE OF SEDATE BIL1, 309 RELATIWG
TO THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY CONSERVATION AND
DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
WHEREAS, on, February 24, 1964, the Palo Alto City Council
passed Resolution Number 3723 supporting a two-year state
moratorium on the filling of San FraneiacoIBay; and
WHERAAS, said City Council has csOsistaeitly recognized
the need for a regional approach to saving the Bay and rein -
Latins the indiscriminate filling of Bay lands; and
WHBIEAS, there is now pending before the California State
Senate, Bill No. 309, known as the McAteer Bill, which
recognizes that a regional approach to saving the Bay is
necesszry. defines the limits of San Francisco Bay and esta-
blishes the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development
Commission with direction to submit a comprehensive plan for
bay conservation and development by the 5th legislative
day of the 1969 Regular Session and further requires a permit
from the commission in order to undertake a fill or excavation
project affecting the bay during the period the comprehensive
plan is being formulated.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That it supports the principles and policies
set forth in said Senate Bill 309 and urges immediate passage
of said legislation.
SECTION 2. That copies of this resolution be sent to
