' ·-·· . ----~·· ~ .. __ -~~·--~----· ----····~-~-------------~-·----... ---·--·-·--E I 10 lli~Q~llll.QI H.Q. ~ The Council of the Cit:r of Palo Alto DO RESOLVE as follows: THAT, WHE~AS, the Cobncil of the City of Palo Alto finds that there is now E1xistent on that r.ertain portion of the 101 HighwP.y t:~c'm Coll-age Avenue to P~ge .Mill Road in the City or Palo Alto a very dangerous condition due to the narrowing of :Ja1d highway, creatin6 a bottleneck at said po:lnt; nnd WHEREAS, said highv:rq :~s the maiJ'l stRte highway through the City of Palo Alt<l 1 therefore th':lre is urgent need for the widenill6 and paving of this portion or said highway; and. WH~llliAS, the City has t1een unable to ;procure the necessary funds for this imprQvement, either by assessing the adjacent property or thrc.,ugh general taxation; and WHEiiliAS, said improvemE~nt wo11ld afford considerabltt unemployment relief work which, in itself 1 is a ver~r urgent na ed J NuW, THi~EFOh~, this C~~nc11 urgently requests that the California State Highway Commission ULJertake this wcrk w.1th funds allocated by the Bureau or Public Roads for the improvement of the state highways through municipalities. This Council further .f'imls that the said improvement should include the following: (a) The removal of all building~ where necess~ry to provide a roadway one hundred (100) feet in width. (b) The construction of sidewalks twelve (12) teet wide on each side of the rondway. (c) The construction o! qurb~ and· gutters on each side of the roadway. (d) The constr~ction of n permanent pavement between the gutter lines. This Council recommends that tb~ ccst for the acquiring or land necessary for the widening of said highway bP borne jointly by the City or Palo Alto and the Div~sion of Hi&hways, and that the share of the City of Palo Alto for said pv~chase of land be appropriated out of said city's share of tb~ ,as tax as provided by the recent enactment of the State Legislature. The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly passed at a special meeting or the Council of the City of Palo Alto on Frid~,y, the 2ls t day of July, 1933, by the following vote: AY.il:S: NOES: ABSENT: Bonham, Collins, Judsctn1 Kelly, Lausten, Stephens, Thoits, Thomas, Wood.
