HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 1078' . -. 28 .. , '"' -~ -·--..... .--.-~-·-·-.. ~··-------· .. -· .. -l'"h-~......_ __ 4 __ _ lliQ.ItlliiQI J.Q..lQD BESOLUTIOlf Rfii.tTIIG TQ BOSPITALIWIOR PUlP WHEREAS, a hoapit.ilization plan was instituted by tl.ae Council of the Cit;y of Palo lito in January, 1934, whereb? hospital benefits to 'the residents of the Cit7 ot· Palo Alto were made available by the paJment under certain prescribed conditions of Two Dollars and Fifty Cents {$2.60) per day upo:a the Palo Alto Hospital bills or all residents US!ni tbe said hospitalJ aDd whereas said plan was continued in operation for a period of ten months; aDd WHEREAS, the City Council by its action or January 21, 1935 referred t~ matter to a Special Coun~il CoDIDlittee on Hospitalization for a recolllllendaticn &..Dd a report as to the future o:r said plan; and whereas, on April 4, 1935 said coamit·tee made its report and recommendations to the Ci·cy Council; and WHEREAS, the c oiiWl:L t tee recolDJiended that said hospital benefits to Palo Alto residents be made permanent a~ that the flat benefit of Two Dollars and Fifty Cents (~2.50) per day per person be applied to all per 11em charges except those which are in exce8s of Eight Dollars ($8.00) per day; providedp however that in ~ case shall benefits be greater t~n fifty per ceut (5~) of the par diem chari&J and provided further, tha• said benei'its shall be available to each person for not 110re than twenty-one days (21) in e~:Lch year; u.nd WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of having an expression from the voters of the City of P~lo Alto conce1·ning said hospitalization planJ NOW, THEREFORE, XE~ Council of the City of Palo Alto DO RESOLVE as follows. a That there shall t1e presented to all persons voting at the general municipal election on May 14, 1935 a separate ballot sheet containing thLe following question under the title of Proposition No. lt "PROPOSITION NO. 1 Do you favor the establishment of a permanent hospital beuefit plan for the citizens of the City of Palo Alto?" That said proposition be printed upon a separate bal~ot from that of the general municipal election; that said ballots be deposited in a separate ballot box from those of ~he general m~tcipal election, and that said ballots be counted and canvassed separately from the ballots of the general munici:pal election.
