RESOLUTION NO. ~819
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
RECOGNIZING THE PRESENCE OF, ANO WELCOMING TO THE CITY tY" PALO AL TO
OAXACA, OAXACA STUDENTS AND GUESTS
WHEREAS, cultural exchange resulting from people-to-people co001unication
is the foundat-ion of the Sister City Proqram which attempts to further
international understanding; and ' .
WHEREAS, Oaxaca pays 1ts respects to Palo Alto by sending eighteen
v 1s 1 tors ; and
WHEREAS, the visitors are welcomed to the City of Palo Alto and 1nto the
homes of Palo Alto residents; and
WHEREAS, this cultural exchange participation exemplifies the mutual
objective of the two cities, that of attempting to promote and encourage and
cultivate understanding between the people of the two communities; and
WHEREAS, this exchange proqran has proven to be mutually beneficial;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
fol lows:
SECTION 1: That th1s Council recognizes the presence of, and welcomes
to this co11111unity, visitors fran our Sister C1ty of Oaxaca.
SECTION 2: That this Council, on behalf of the people of Palo Alto,
expresses its heartfelt appreciation to
