RESOLUiION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
HONORING RICHARD W. LYMAN ANO ELIZABETH S. LYMAN
Stanford University and the City of Palo Alto have grown
up and prospered together; and
the success and well-being of the University bear upon
th~ City of Palo Alto in numerous important ways; and
Richard W. Lyman has served Stanford University with
notable courage and distinction as its president
during a challenging decade; and
Elizabeth S. Lyman, Stanford's first lady, has respt.inded
generously to basic con111unity needs by giving leadership
to major social causes.
NOWj THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo
Alto does hereby express its gratitude to Dick and Jing
--Lyman, and extend heartfelt good wishes to them as they
embark upon new careers of service to the Rockefeller
Foundation, to the City of New York, and to the nation.
