RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF 'tHE CITY OF PALO ALTO
APPROVING THE CONCEPT OF A BIKE-PEDESTRIAN TRAIL
THROUGH THE BAYLANDS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PALO
ALTO TO ACT AS LEAD AGENCY WITH THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT
OF PARKS AND RECREATION FOR SAID TRAIL

WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed and considered documents presented
to it by the City of ~alo Alto staff regarding the design and construction
cf a Baylands bike-pedestrian trail1 and
WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed such alternatives as presented;
and
WHEREAS, the Sta~e of California Department of Parks and Recreation
has allocated Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($400,000) for this project;
NOW, THRREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does F.ESOLVE
as follows:
SECTION 1. This Council approves in concept the recommendation of
City staff that the Baylands bike-pedestrian trail be designed and con-
structed alonq the Frontage Road route. Further, the City Manager or
his desiqnee is directed to negotiate an aqreement with the State of
California Department of Parks and Recreation for the desiqr., construc-
tion, maintenance and operation of the trail.
SECTION 2. The Council finds that this is not a project and,
therefore, no environmental impact assessment is necessary.
