RESOLUTION NO. 5778
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE CALIFORNIA WITNESS
PROTECTION PROGRAM AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF
OF POLICE TO EXECUTE STANDARD AGREEMENT THEREFOR
WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of Palo Alto desires
to participate in the California Witness Protection Program which is
designed to assist local la•-1 enforcement agencies and prosecutors to
protect witnesses and/or families;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE
as follows:
SEC'l'ION l. The Chief of Police of the City of Palo Alto Police
Department is hereby authorized to participate in the California Wit-
ness Protection Program as l.e, in his discretion, deems appropriate
in order to protect witnesses and thoir families.
SECTION 2. The Chief of Police of the Palo Alto Police Department
is hereby authorized to execute t-.he standard agreement with the Cali-
fornia Department of Justice and such other documents in orner to ob-
tain disbursement of State funds under the California Witness Protection
Program.
SECTION 3. The Council of the City of Palo Alto finds that this
is not a proJect and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is
necessary.
