RESOLUTION NO. 5760
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMEHDING RESOLUTIOH NO.· 5656 TO INCREASE REIMBURSABLE
EXPENSES IHCURR.ED IN THE USE OF PRIVATE AUTOMOBILES
AJ~D TO PROVIDE FOR REIMBURSEtiENT OF BICYCLE EXPENSES
INCURRED IN TliE PERFORMANCE OF A COUNCILl1EMBER' S DUTIES
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5656 previously adopted by this
Council sets forth the Coun~il's policy for reimbursable expenses
incurred in the performance of a Councilmember's duties; and
WHEREAS, this Council desires to update said policy to provi~e
for bicycle reimbursement and increased automobile reimbursement;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE As follows:
SECTION 1. Subsection (c) of Paragraph 1 of "Out-of-Town
Conferen-ce.s1rc:>f Exhibit "A" of Resolution No. 5656 nereby is
&mended to read as follows:
"(c) Private automobile reimbursement at the
rate of 20¢ per business mile. For ex-
tended trips, mileage reimbursement shall
not exceed the cost of round trip air
transportation (Coach Class)."
SECT:i.:OH 2. Paragraph 3 of "Local or Bay Area Activities0 of
Exhioi""t "A" of Resolution No. 5656 hereby is amended to read as
follows:
"3. Mileage at 20¢ per mile, if activity is
outside City (~ileaga claims should be
submitted monthly, with details re date
of meeting, type of meeting, number of
miles traveled to be indicated)."
SECTION 3. Exhibit 0 A" Of Resolution No. 5656 hereby is
aniended to add Paragraph 4 to "LoGal or Bay Area Activities" to
read as follows:
"4. In accordance with mileage reimbursement
policy, Councilmembers may be reimbursed
by the City for use of a private bicycle
to attend local or Bay Area activities
outsi.de the City of Palo Alto. Reimburse-
ment shall be at the rate of 4¢ per
business mile."

SECTION 4. The Council fi.nds that this is not a project
under the California Environmental Quality Act anrl, therefore,
no environmental impact assessment is necessary. ·
