RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALO ALTO COMMENDING DOUGLAS WINSLOW FOR
OUTSTANDING AND CONSCIENTIOUS SERVICE AS
A MEMBER OF THE HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
ORIGINAL
WHEREAS, Douglas Winslow has diligently and unselfishly contributed of his
time, talents and energy while serving the City of Palo Alto as a
Human Relations Commissioner from 1977 to 1979; and
W~EREAS, Douglas Winslow contributed to the community during his tenure
through active participation as a Commissioner which helped to
increase the visibility and role of the Human Relations Commission
in the areas of age discrimination, housing~ sexual preference and
the rights of minorities and youth;
WHEREAS, Douglas Winslow served the community in a number of capacities
including; that of C01J1T1ission 1iai5on to the Rental Mediation
Housing Task Force, as a member of the Youth Council Task Force,
through personal involvement in the activities of the Palo Alto
Adolescent Services Corporation and as a Conmission liaison with
the Police Department in both conmunity relations issues and
as a memb'C'r of an advisory group on the selection of police
officers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Palo Alto
hereby commends the long-standing, excellent and conscientious
public service of Douglas Winslow and records its appreciation
as well as the appreciation of the citizens of this co1T11Junity
for the service and contributions rendered during his term of
office.
