RESOLUTION TO CLOSE HOOVER AVEIUE AJID ROOSEv'ELT AVENUE
IH TBE CITY OF PALO ALT()
The Council or the City of Palo Altc, DO RESCLVE as followsz
That it is the intention C)f the cc.uncil to
order the closi!li of Hoover Avenue ~~nd Roosevelt Avenue
in the City of Palo .Alto, the partic:ular descriptions
of said avenues being as followtt, tc1-w1 t:
Parcel l· Commencing at a point on the
northerly line of Channing Avenue, formerly Pitman
Avenue, where the dividing line between lots
2 and 3 of the Pitraan Partition hereinafter
referred to intersects the same and running thence
northerly along said divi~ing line 479.252 feet to
the southeast corner of land conveyed. to Madison E.
Kirby and wife by Henry ~ .. Call~y and wife by deed
dated Dt:cember J.5, 1927 and recorded December 16,
1e27 in Li'ber 344 of Official hecords, page 337,
records ot' Santa Clara County, California;
running thence westerly at right angles along the
southerly line of land so conveyed to said Kirby
30 feet; r~tng thence southerly at right angles
and parallel with the said dividing line for lots
2 and ~ of the Pitman Partition 479.£52 feet to the
said northe:rly line of Channing Avenue; running
thence aaste:rly along sa.id northerly line of
\,;banning Avenue 30 feet to the place of commence-
ment and being a part of Lot 2 a s shown upon a
map entitled "Map of the Pitman Partition of part
of the Ranci1o Rinconada del Arroyo de ban .r r<:~.ncis
quito" which is on record iu the office of the
County Recorder of the County of Santa Clara,
State o.f California in Book I of tia:ps, page 83,
record of said County.

in Liber 344 of Official Records, page 337, records
of Santa Clara Co'Unty, CaliforniaJ running thence
easterly at right angles and along the southerly
line of lands so conveyed to said Kirby 30 feet;
running thence soutLerly at right angles and
parallel with the said dividlng line of lots 1 and
2 of the Pitman h~rtition 47a.252 feet to the said
northerly line of Channing Avenue 30 1'eet to the
place of commencem~nt and being a part of lot 2
as shown upon a map entitled "Kap of the Pitman
Partition of part of the Rancho Rinconada del
Arroyo de San .r·rancisqui t~" which is on :record. in
the office of the County Recorder of the County of
Santa Clara, State of California, in Book I of Maps,
page 83, records of said County.

The Council he~aby declares that said
closing is for the public interest and convenience of the city.
The Street Superintendent shall po,at a
notice of public work in the manner and form as provided
by the street opening act hereinafter referred to and
shall also publish a notj.ce of said public work for a
period of ten days in the Palo Alto Times, a daily
newspaper published and. circulated in the City of
Palo Alto and wr.ich the Council hureby de!lignates as
the official newspaper in which the Str@et Superintendent's
notice of the passage of this resolution shall be published.
Any persons interested obJecting to said
closing may make written objections to the same wit.hin
ten days after the expiration of the time or publication
of tt~ Street Superintendent's notice, whicn objections
shall be delivered to the City Clerk. The City Clerk
shall thereupon notify the persons making !U.Ch
objections of the time for hearing said objections
before the City Council.
All ol' the herein proposed work shall be
4one in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of
the ~tate of California entitled "An Act to Provide
for the L&ying Out, Opening, Extending, Widening,
Straightening or Closing Up, in Whole or in P~rt,
of any Street, \)quare, Lane, Alley, Court or Pla.ce
within a Municipality, and to Condemn and ~cqu1re
any ~nd al+ Lands and Property .Nece.ssa1•y or Convenient
for that Purpose".• ap:proved Karoh 6, 1889, as said act is amended to date~
The above and foregoing resolution was duly
and regularly passed by the Council of the City of
Pulo Alto at a regular meeting thereof held on ~onday,
the 13th day of September, 1937, by the following votes
