LEASE
THIS AGREEMENT, made this 13th day of September,
1937, by and between the CITY OF PALO ALTO, a municipal
corporation, by BYRL R. SALSMAN, Mayor, and WINIFRED KIDD,
City Clerk, auly authorized so to do, hereinafter desigLated
the ftLessor" and ~ILY S. DIXON of the City of P&lo Alto,
County o.f' Santa Clara, St.cite of Cal:-..fornia, hereinal'ter
d~signated the "Lessee",
W I T N E S S E T H s
That the Lessor, for and in consideration of .
the rents to be paid and the covenants and agreements to
be performed by the Lesbee, aoes by these presents grant,
demise and let unto said Lessee that certain real
property situuted in the City of Pelo Alto, County of
Sa.nt~ Clara, State of California, and particularly
described as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at a stake on the westerly line
of Ct~nning Avenue, distant thereon south
89° 461 East 20 feet from eusterly prop&rty line
of Center Street; thence along the westerly
property line· of Channing Avenue south 89° 46'
e&st 476.50 feet to a fence post; thence along
fence north oo Q4' east 548.50 feet to a fence post;
thence north 74 46' west 1~2.7 feet to "' stake;
thence south 150 43' west 112.0 feet to a stake;
thence south 620 21' west 358.7 feet to a stake;
thence parallel with Center ::>treet south oo 14'
west 307.2 feet to point of beginning.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said premises unto the
said Lessee for a term of one (1) year at an annual rental
of ONE DOLLAR ($1.00).
This lease is subject to the following covenants
and agreements hereby expressly agreed upon between the
saiu Lesso~ find the said Lessee, to·-wit:
(a) Perm1s~ion is hereby given by the ~essor to
the Lessee to su~-lease said property to Mr. Mockkin.
(b) It is understood that this lease is made
upon the condition that the premises are to be used for
the cultivation of flowers and/or vegetables only.
(c) The Lessee shall pay for ull YOater furnished
upon the premisesw
(d) It is understood that no permanent structures are to be erected upon the premises herein demised.

The Council of the City of Palo Alto DO RESOLVE as
follows:
That BYRL R. SALSMAN, Mayor, and WINIFRED
KIDD, City Clerk of the City of Palo Alto, be and
th~y are r~reby authorized to execute the foregoing
lease on behalf of the City of Palo Alto, the Lessor
n~med tharein.
The abo•re and foregoing resolution was duly
and regu.l.arJ.y passed at a regular meating of the
Council of the City of Palo Alto held on Monday,
the 13th day of September1 1937, by the .following vote:
AYES: Blois, Bonham, Cashel~ ~ol~ins, Costello, Cypher, Mrs. Merner, Mosher, R1chards 1 SaJ.sman, l'ho1 ts.
