DECLARING ~lill RESULT OF A SPECIAL ELECTION I~ IN THE CITY OF
PALO AL'l'O ON :MAY 11, lQ37 UPON A CERTAIN PROPOSED IIU'!'IATIVE ORDINANCE.
Whereas, a special election was duly called and held
in the City of Palo Alto on May 11, 1937 for the purpose ot
approving a certain p1•oposed ordinance regulating the occupation
o!' soliciting and peddling in the City or Palo Alto., which ordi-
nance was proposed upon initiative petition signed by tho
required nwnber of voters as set forth in the Charter of the City of Palo Alto; and
Whereas, the City Council of the Cit,· or Palo JUto
has, in accordance with the law in such caaes made and provided, m~t on Wednesdayf the 12th a~ ot May, 1937, in the Council
Chamber at the C1t1 Hall in said citr at the hour of 7:30 P.M.
and has dul7 canvassed the returna of said election aa c~rt1-
fied by the several election boards, and finds from said canvaaa
that the total number of votes ca~t at said election was 2422
·:otes; that of said 'GOt&.l number of votes so cast at aa1d
election there were cast for the proposed ordinance 365 votea,
and there were cast against the proposed ordinance 1994 votea;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE I~ RESOLVED that th1a Council does
he:reby find, deterrnine and declare that a pjori ty o! the
qualified electors of said cit7 voting on said proposed ordinance have voted against said proposal.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regu-
larly passed at an adjourned regular meeting of the Council of
the City of Palo Alto held on Wednesday, the 12th day of May, 1937 bJ the following vote:
