RESOLUTION NO. 5250
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
ADDING CHAPTER 16 TO THE MERIT SYSTEM RULES AND
REGULATIONS RE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTAUDING BETWEEN
THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AND PALO ALTO PEACE OFFICERS'
ASSOCIATION
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 16 is added to the Merit System Rules
and Regulations to read as follows;
"CHAPTER 16
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
PALO ALTO PEACE OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION
Sections:
1601 Memorandum of understanding incorporated
by reference
1601. Memorandum of understanding inco~orated by
rererence. That certain memorandum of un~rstanding
dated July 23, 1976, by and between the City of Palo
Alto and Palo Alto Peace Officers' Association, consist-
ing of Preamble and Article 1. through XII. being six
pages in length for a term connnencing July l, 1976, and
expiring June 30, 1978,· hereby is incorporated into
these Merit System Rules and Regulations by reference
as though fully set forth herein. Said memorandum shall
apply to all employees in classifications of police
officer, police agent and police sergeant except wher~
specifically provided otherwise herein.
In the case of conflict with this chapter and
any other provisions of the Merit System Rules and
Regulations, this chapter will prevail over such other
provisions as to employees represented by said Palo
Alto Peace Officers' Association."
SECTION 2. The changes provided for in this resolution
shal.l not·~ affect any right established or accrued or any
offense or act comnitted, or any penalty of forfeiture incurred,
or any prosecution, suit, or proceeding pending or any judgment
rendered prior to the effective date of this resolution.
SECTION 3. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby
finds that the enactment of this resolution is not a "project"
within the meaning of that term as defined in Section 11.04.130
of the Palo Alto Municipal Code and, therefore, no environmental
assessment is necessary.
