RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
CONGRATULATING PALO ALTO HIGH SCHOOL'S FROSH-SOPH
FOOTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 1979 S.C. V .A.L. CONFERENCE
WHEREAS, Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (S.C.V.A.L.) 1s a high
school football league made up of teams from Santa Clara to Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, in 1979, Pa1y High's Frosh-Soph football team won the s.c.v.A.L.
Conference, finishing with eight wins and no losses; and
WHEREAS, the 1979 Frosh-Soph football team is the f1r~t undefeated Paly
High football team in a decade; and
WHfr'F",'\S, the team• s success can be attrf buted 1n part to the manner 1n
which the team played tcgether and put forth a real team effort;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
fol lows:
Section 1: That this Council recognizes the achievements of the
Palo Alto High School Frosh-Soph football team, its coach Earl Hansen, and
assistant coaches Jim Verweyst and Lee Megginson.
Section 2: That this Council expresses its heartfelt congratulations
to the team for winning the 1979 S.C.V.A.L. Conference.
Section 3. That this CoYnci1 extends its best wishes to a11 members
of the team and to the coaches for futur~ successes.

SECTION 2. The Council hereby states that it is the intent
of the CouncTI that the City's deferred compensation plan be, and
be administered. in compliance with the terms of the Revenue Act
of 1978, or successor legislation governing such plans. In the
ever.t of any conflict or inconsistency between the City's deferred
compensati -.... ;i plan and such federal statutes, said federal statutes
ahall prevail, and the Plan shall be administered in full com-
pliance with all requirements of said legislation.
SECTION 3. The Council finds that the adoption of this
resolution ls not a pro]ect as defined by the California Environ-
mental Quality Act.
