RESOLUTION OF TllE COUNCIL OF TllE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING SCHEDULE \.-1 DUE TO THF. EFFECT OF A WHOLE-
SALE GAS PRICE INCREASE UPON PALO ALTO GAS RATES
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously adopted Resolut:on No.
5735, which authorizes the City Mana?,er to implement nondiscretion1ry
adjustments to Palo Al to gas rates to reflect increases i. n the whole-
s a le gas costs, up to an :innual maximum of thirty-five (35) percent;
and
WHEREAS, effective October 27, 1979, an increase in the whole-
sale gas cost was imposed upon the City of Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager automatically adjusted revenues to
C'qual the price increase and in accordance with Resolution No. 5735
has notified this Council of his ministerial action;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the Citv of Palo Alto does RP.SOLVE
as follows:
SECTION 1. This Council finds that the action taken by the City
ManRp,er-is in· accordance with the nrovisions of Resolution 5735; that
ti1e adjustments do net exc.:eed the maximum annua 1 perL!i tted increase
set by this Council (thirty-five (35) nercent), thRt the effective
dare is identical to that <lat€ of the price increa~e. and that in all
respects st1ch nondiscreticnary adjustments are approved.
!)EC'f[ON 2. This Council finds that the revenue derived fn1m the authorizeaaCI]~stment of said gas rates by the City Manager shall be
used only for the purpoRes set forth in the Palo Alto City Charter,
Article VII, Section 2, entitled "Public Utilities Revenue." The
adoption of this Resolution is, therefore, specifically exempted under
Public Resources Code Section 21080(b)(8) from the requirements of
CEQA.
SECTION 3. Pursuant to Section 12.20.010 of the Palo Alto Muni-
ci pa 1 ·code, Schedule G .. l (General Natural Gas Service) of the Palo
Alto Utlli.ties Rates an<l Charges hereby is amended to read as shown on
"f;hcl~t No. l 16at" attached hereto and incorporated herein.

DOMESTIC SEWAGE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL
Thia schedule applies to each occupied domestic dwelling unit. This
rate shall become effective on the date of full operation of Advanced
Wastewater Treatment Facilities as deterinined by the Chief Engineer,
Water-Gaa-Sewer Utilities or July 1, 1980, whichever ~omes first.
Until such time, the current rate shall apply.
TERP.ITORY:
Within the incorpora~~d limits of the City of Palo Alto and on land
owned or leased by the City.
RATES: Per Month

SPECIAL NOTES:
An occupied domestic dwelling is designated as any house, cot~age,
flat, duplex unit, or apartDlent unit hliving kitchen, bath, and
sleeping f &cilities and to which utilities services are being
rendered.
Any dwelling unit not being individually served ~y gas or electric
meter will b! conaidered as continuously occupied.
For any dwelling unit being served by more than one sewer connecti~n,
th~ monthly charge will be applied to each connection.

COMMERCIAL SEWAGE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL
APPLICABILITY:
This schedule applies to all establishments other than dome'·tic
dwelling units. lhese rates shall become effective on the date
of full operation of .Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facilities
as determined by the Chief Engineer~ Water-Gas-Sewer Utilities
or July lt 1980~ whichever comes first. Until such time, the
current rates shall apply.

All customers receiving City of Palo Alto sewage collection and
disposal services. (Replaces Schedule S-2-0 on the effective
date.)

SPECIAL NOTES:
Upon application from establishments maintaining extensive
irrigated landscaping~ the monthly charge will be based upon
the average water usage for the months of January, February,
and March.
Sewage metering facilities may be required~ in which case servi~e
will be governed by terms of a special agreement.
Charges for large discharges (25,000 gallons per day or greater)
will be determined on the basis of sampling ~~ outlined in
Utilities Ruie and Regulation 19C. Annual charges will be
determined and allocated monthly.
