HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 5733A• , ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 5733 -A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO CONGRATULATING PALO ALTO AMERICAN LEGION POST 375 BASEBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP WHEREAS, American Legion Baseball is a program of service to youth and one of the purposes of the program is to instill in all youth a sincere d~s1re to develop within themselves a feeling of citiz~nship, sportsmanship, lo)alty and team spirit; and WHEREAS. there are six area baseball leagues in California and the Palo Alto American Legion Post 375 Baseball Team plays in one of these area leagues, consisting of teams around the Bay Area; and WHEREAS, in 1978, the American Legion Post 375 Baseball Team won the Area Tourna~~nt and competed in the State Tournament for the first time in twenty years, placing second; and WHEREAS, this year, 1979, the American Legion Post 375 Baseball team once again won the Area Tournament, qualifying it fot participation in the State Tournament; and WHE~EAS, on August 14,· 1979, at Yountville, California, the Palo Alto American Legion Post 375 Baseball Team Won the State Baseball Championship; and WHEREAS, the Palo Alto American Legion Post 375 Baseball Team will compete at the Western Regionals, August 22-26 at Stanford University, with their first g~m~ i>eing on August 22 against New Mexico. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1: That this Council recognizes the achievements of the Palo Alto American Legion Post 375 Baseball Team. SECTION 2: That this Council expresses its heartfelt congr~tulat~ons to the Palo Alto American Legion Post 3'l5 Baseball Team for winning the 1979 State Baseball Championship. ~ECTION 3: That this Council extends it support anJ best wishes to the Palo Alto American Legion Post 375 Baseball Team for continued success at the Western Regionals, August 22·26, at Stanford University.
